'ENGLAND SWINGS: Noël Coward in Jazz' Comes to Dizzy's Club, 6/18

NEA Jazz Master Annie Ross and jazz vocal legend Andy Bey, plus other stars of the jazz and nightclub worlds, gather to salute the music of 20th-century genius Noël Coward in “ENGLAND SWINGS: Noël Coward in Jazz” at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola for two performances on Monday, June 18th. Shows are at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. There is a $25 cover and $10 minimum at tables, and a $5 cover at the bar. Food is available. Dizzy’s is part of Jazz at Lincoln Center, and is located in the Time-Warner Center at 60th St. and Broadway. Reservations can be made at www.jalc.org or at 212.258.9595. ( more...)

New YorkÂ’s cabaret community just came together to celebrate the legacy of its late great impresario Donald F. Smith in a free public concert. Donald F. Smith, Executive Director and Founder of The Mabel Mercer Foundation, passed away in March, 2012. He created the New York Cabaret Convention 27 years ago. For many years it was held at Town Hall, a building he was instrumental in preserving as a New York City landmark. ( more...)

Artists in Partnership Presents 10th ANNUAL CABARET, 5/16-20

Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its 10th Annual Cabaret Festival May 16-20 at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY. All performances are free to the public. Tony Award-Winner Dick Latessa, Honorary Board Chair, brought together Broadway stars on April 30 to help raise funds for Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) which uses drama therapy to help New York's most vulnerable children and adults. This year's 2012 Annual Gala, which highlighted the CANY mission with the theme of "Creativity+ Community+ Change = Rebuilding Lives," was held at the Edison Hotel Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The 2012 Honorees were Broadway veteran, film and TV star Anita Gillette and CANY Chair Emerita, Ellen Kealy. ( more...)

92nd Street Y today announced the 2013 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists™, 92Y’s celebrated American Songbook series. Deborah Grace Winer returns for her fifth season as artistic director of the series, as well as one of the shows. FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY continues its Spring 2012 season with the return engagement of Grammy Award nominated singer and entertainer MARILYN MAYE. Her new show – “The Happiest Sound In Town” – is her annual birthday celebration and features some of her most-requested numbers including “Guess Who I Saw Today,” “Bye Bye Country Boy,” “Rain” and “Golden Rainbow.” Another highlight of the show, “Come In From The Rain,” was a personal favorite of Johnny Carson; Maye performed it many times on “The Tonight Show” at his personal invitation. Maye’s recent local appearances have been received with rave reviews and full houses. The show runs through Saturday, May 5 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st

Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch to Perform at Bemelmans at The Carlyle, Sundays in June

Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch will be performing swinging standards at the legendary Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel every Sunday in June from 9pm – 12 midnight. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the open mic Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally.
