Carole King Set for 'In Performance at the White House' Series, 5/22 by BWW News Desk - May 17, 2013
As part of their "In Performance at
the White House" series, the President and First Lady will host a
concert in the East Room honoring singer-songwriter Carole King, who
will be awarded the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for
Popular Song. President Obama will present the award as he did when
the Library of Congress honored Stevie Wonder (2009), Sir Paul
McCartney (2010), and the songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal
David (2012). The program will include performances by King, as well
as Gloria Estefan, Billy Joel, Jesse McCartney, Emeli Sande, James

BONZO BASH to Tribute Led Zeppelin's John Bonham at Revolution, 5/31 by BWW News Desk - May 16, 2013
Brian Thomas Tichy and his partner Joe Sutton have decided to bring their John Bonham celebration, 'Bonzo Bash', to Long Island commemorating the life of rock's ultimate drummer - the drummer for Led Zeppelin, John Bonham. The show has been booked for Friday May 31st at Revolution 140 Merrick Rd in Amityville to pay tribute to John Henry Bonham on what would have been his 65th birthday. (more...)

Dee Dee Bridgewater Leads LADY DAY Musical at the Little Shubert Theatre by BWW News Desk - May 16, 2013
Multi-award-winning set designer Beowulf Boritt, along with noted costumes designer Patricia A. Hibbert, and acclaimed lighting designed by Ryan O'Gara will head the design team for the upcoming Billie Holiday musical "Lady Day" starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater. With an opening set for Thursday, October 3rd(6:30PM) the production will take residence at Times Square's Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical will make its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier "Best Actress in a Musical" Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. Produced by Misty Road Productionsthe show's creative team also includes three-time Emmy Award winning composer & arranger Bill Jolly, who will serve as musical director.
