CA Chief Justice Gives Address on Current State of Judiciary, 6/4

The Beverly Hills Bar Association (BHBA), in association with the Beverly Hills Bar Foundation and the Law Guild of Beverly Hills, hosts the 59th Annual Supreme Court Luncheon honoring the California Supreme Court on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 11:30 a.m., at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye is attending and is providing remarks on the current state of the Judiciary. This is her third appearance at the BHBA's perennial luncheon since becoming Chief Justice in 2011. Unlike previous years, the Supreme Court Associate Justices will not be in attendance. Due to fiscal constraints caused by the state's budget cuts, this year the Court is not holding its usual June oral argument session in Los Angeles, around which the BHBA Supreme Court Luncheon has always been slated, but, instead, will remain in San Francisco, where the court normally convenes. Monterey Media Acquires THE CITIZEN with Agnes Bruckner

monterey media has completed a deal with production company 3K Pictures for all US and Canada rights to Sam Kadi's debut drama THE CITIZEN starring Agnes Bruckner (BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE, THE WOODS), Khaled Nabawy (Fair Game, Kingdom of Heaven), William Atherton (GHOSTBUSTERS, THE LAST SAMURAI), and Cary Elwes (THE PRINCESS BRIDE, NEW YEAR'S EVE) with a theatrical release set for August 2013 as it was announced by monterey media's President Scott Mansfield. Up-and-Coming Stars Raise Money for Victims of Boston Marathon Bombing

Hollywood starlets including Taylor Ann Thompson ('Liz & Dick'), Peyton List ('Diary of a Wimpy Kid'), Bailee Madison ('Bridge to Terabithia'), Rowan Blanchard ('Spy Kids 4-D'), and Rachel Crow ('Big Time Rush'), walked the Pink Carpet at Beverly Hills retailer Un Deux Trois Wednesday night in support of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Beverly and Colin Shorkend, owners of the popular girl's fashion clothing store, opened their doors for a Girls' Night shopping spree with a percentage of all proceeds going to 'One Fund Boston.' Winners of 2013 Student Academy Awards Announced

Thirteen students from nine U.S. colleges and universities as well as three students from foreign universities have been selected as winners in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Student Academy Awards competition. They will be brought to Los Angeles for a week of industry activities that will culminate in the awards ceremony, hosted by 1978 Student Academy Award winner and comedian Bob Saget, on Saturday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
