ASPiRE's Original Series THE ROOT 100 to Premiere 12/5 by TV News Desk - Nov 21, 2012
ASPiRE today announced the world premiere of its new original series, THE ROOT 100. Hosted by Emmy®-winning television journalist and CNN Anchor Suzanne Malveaux, the weekly show is based on online news and commentary site The Root's (www.theroot.com) fourth annual list of 100 of the most influential African-American innovators of the next generation (age 25-45). Featuring first-hand interviews and video profiles of 24 of the list's honorees, THE ROOT 100 explores the lives and groundbreaking accomplishments of these dynamic men and women. The eight-episode series airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. beginning Dec. 5.

The BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™ 2012 special on BET is back for a third televised installment with heartfelt performances, tributes and special awards to celebrate the achievements of remarkable women of color. Back by popular demand is the dynamic duo of Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King who are returning to co-host this year's awards show. The historic Loews Paradise Theatre in New York City will be the site of the annual celebration which tapes Saturday, October 13, 2012 and premieres Sunday, November 4, 2012 on BET Networks.

The Riverside Theatre will host the 3rd annual Women's History Month celebration coined, "An Evening with Women of Excellence in the Arts," on Monday, March 26th at 6pm. Five women will share an intimate discussion about their personal journeys in the industry. The esteemed panel will be moderated by Image Activist and Writer Michaela Angela Davis and will include, Lillias White, Melba Moore, Beverly Bond, Malikha Mallette, and Winsome Sinclair. The theatre is located in the historic Riverside Church at 91 Claremont Ave. (bet. 120th & 122nd St.), Morningside Heights. The event will be followed by a V.I.P reception sponsored by Given Liqueur. Sponsors include City College, Ashley Battle of the WNBA, Carol's Daughter, Iman Cosmetics , Hue-Man Bookstore and Completely Bare. (more...)
