Bay Street Theatre has announced the first production of the 2012 Mainstage Season. Polly Draper stars in MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE, by Geraldine Aron. This American Premiere begins Tuesday, May 29 and runs through Sunday, June 24. The production is directed by Matt McGrath, one of Bay StreetÂ’s Artistic Associates. Ana Gasteyer, from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and SUBURGATORY and Brian d'Arcy James from the new hit series SMASH performed to a sold-out crowd last night, May 26, at Bay Street Theatre. ” Gasteyer and James mingled with the crowd, including actress Blythe Danner, at the post-show VIP soiree. Piece by Piece productions, Rising Phoenix Repertory, and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater have announced that the world premiere of 3C, written by David Adjmi and directed by Jackson Gay, will begin performances Wednesday, June 6 at 7pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place. Bay Street Theatre held its First Annual Honors Benefit last night with some of the biggest names of the stage and screen converging at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York City to honor Joy Behar, AdriAnne Cohen and John Downing, all members of Bay Street's Board of Trustees. Bay Street Theatre today announced that it has made a decision to renew its lease for the near future in Sag Harbor, while it pursues the goal of finding a permanent home on the East End. The announcement comes after a new lease agreement was inked between the theater and Pat Malloy earlier this week. (more...)

Bay Street Theatre today announced an evening with Brian d’Arcy James from the new hit series “Smash” and Ana Gasteyer, from “Saturday Night Live” and “Suburgatory.” The show entitled ANA GASTEYER and BRIAN d’ARCY JAMES: ONE NIGHT, TWO VOICES, THREE CHEERS, will be an evening of song. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play A Streetcar Named Desire follows the story of Blanche DuBois, a weak and disturbed woman on a desperate prowl for some place in the world to call her own. After losing their ancestral home, Belle Reve, Blanche shows up at the doorstep of her sister, Stella, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Putting on airs of refinement and Southern gentility, Blanche tries to impress her brother-in-law, and his gentle, good-natured friend, Mitch. Seeking to escape from reality, and an emblem of a lost traditional South, Blanche becomes a victim of the harsh present. Marlon Brando starred in the Broadway production and the 4-time Academy Award-winning film adaptation. This will mark the 65th Anniversary of this enduring Tennessee Williams classic. (more...)
