ACTS OF LOVE Opens at Bleecker Street Theater, 5/31

Following award-winning productions in the 2010 and 2011 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, playwrights Mark Jason Williams and Gabrielle Fox return to New YorkÂ’s premiere eco-friendly and socially-conscious arts festival this year with Acts of Love, an evening of short-plays to be held at the Bleecker Street Theater, 45 Bleecker Street, from May 31 - June 22. The Lyric Stage Company of Boston presents the Boston premiere of Jon MaransÂ’ Off-Broadway hit THE TEMPERAMENTALS, a chronicle of the love story between Harry Hay and Rudi Gernreich, founders of the Mattachine Society in 1950s Los Angeles. Director Jeremy JohnsonÂ’s vision employs techniques of film noir to take the audience on a temperamental journey for a view of the grassroots effort that began to change the world, nearly two decades prior to the Stonewall Riots. Looking Glass Theatre, celebrating almost 20 years of productions strengthening the voice of women in theater and the arts, will present the world premiere production of Bella PoyntonÂ’s The Angel Play, directed by Amanda Thompson. The Angel Play opens Friday, March 16 and continues through Sunday, April 1 with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at Looking Glass Theatre, located at 422 West 57th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. Tickets are $18, general admission ($15 students/seniors) and available at www.lookingglasstheatrenyc.com. Group tickets also available.
