Giovanna Sardelli to Direct Barrington Stage's World Premiere of MUCKRAKERS, 6/13-7/6

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, presents the world premiere production of Muckrakers, a new play by Zayd Dohrn, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (BSC's The North Pool and Lord of the Flies). Muckrakers begins previews Thursday, June 13, opens Wednesday, June 19 and will run through Saturday, July 6 at the St. Germain Stage, at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield. WAM Theatre Benefit Set for 6/30

WAM Theatre is delighted to announce Claiming Her Place, a benefit for WAM to be held Sunday, June 30 at 7pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington. Co-produced and hosted by Tony nominee Jayne Atkinson, recently cast in The Lion in Winter at Berkshire Theatre Group, the evening will feature a celebrity panel discussing the challenges women face in the entertainment industry. The panel includes:Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Michel Gill (House of Cards), Marin Mazzie (Tony Nominee), Linus Roache(Law & Order) and Debra Jo Rupp (That 70's Show). (more...)

LaMaMa Presents the World Premiere of FALSE SOLUTION, Beginning 6/13

FALSE SOLUTION, a world-premiere play about an architect's struggle to design a Holocaust museum in Poland, written and directed by Oren Safdie, will be presented Off-Broadway with previews starting Thursday, June 13, 2013 (prior to an official press opening night on June 16th) at La MaMa (74A East 4th Street) in Manhattan. Amy Oestreicher Comes to STAGE 72 in June

Following a sold-out run last fall, next month at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street) the incredibly talented and inspirational Amy Oestreicher will bring her hit cabaret Gutless & Grateful back to NYC with performances on 6/16 at 3pm and 6/24 at 7pm. In this moving and entertaining evening of song, performer Amy Oestreicher weaves her near death experience and unique personal story with an eclectic set of songs, highlighting the disappointments, struggles, triumphs and humor in her life. It will also have two performances in CT at the Bijou Theatre on 6/1 at 8pm and 6/2 at 2pm and a special one-night performance at the Barrington Stage Company in Massachusetts on 7/16 at 8pm as a part of Tony Award-winner William Finn's Cabaret Series. National Alliance for Musical Theatre Announces $37,000 in Grants

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fifth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $37,000 to 11 organizations across the country. (more...)
