Stephen Bogardus, Kristy Cates and More Set for An Evening Of Firsts, 4/29 by BWW News Desk - Apr 04, 2013
Broadway's Carey Anderson, Stephen Bogardus, Kristy Cates, Matt Deangelis, John Michael Dias, Cheryl Freeman, Amy Justman, Gay Marshall, Mamie Parris, and The Doo Wop Project will come together for a one night only intimate concert at Stage 72, on Monday April 29th. Hosted by Believe NYC founder, Jacque Carnahan, the evening will include songs and stories of the first inspirations that led these performers to pursue careers on Broadway. (more...)

BWW Reviews: IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU at Village Theatre by BWW

Village Theatre has a tradition of bringing up new musicals (often ones showcased in their Village Originals Festival) onto the Mainstage. Sometimes it works ("Next To Normal" or "Iron Curtain") and sometimes it doesn't ("Take Me America" from earlier this season) and sometimes you have a really promising show that just needs a little more time to cook. Such is the case with "It Shoulda Been You" currently playing at Village. An incredibly strong cast in a show that doesn't always hit the mark or flow the way it could.

Village Theatre announced today the casting for IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, the second new musical production in its 2011-2012 Mainstage Season, written by Brian Hargrove and Barbara Anselmi. Actors include Seattle stalwarts including Leslie Law, John Patrick Lowrie, and Jayne Muirhead; John Dewar, member of the original Broadway cast of Les Misérables; and up-and-coming local actors Joshua Carter, Aaron Finley and Diana Huey. Artists Rep Switches RACE and NEXT TO NORMAL in Schedule by BWW News Desk - Jan 27, 2012
The last two shows of Artists Rep's 2011/12 season, Race by David Mamet and Next to Normal by Brian Yorkey, music by Tom Kitt, will switch start dates. This change will allow Associate Artistic Director Jon Kretzu to direct the Broadway-bound It Shoulda Been You by Brian Hargrove, music by Barbara Anselmi, at the Village Theatre near Seattle, where it has its final production before its Broadway premiere this Fall. The show was produced at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey last Fall and was directed by David Hyde Pierce. (more...)

David Hyde Pierce to Lead THE LANDING at Vineyard Theatre; Scott Ellis to Direct by BWW News Desk - Sep 06, 2011
Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor David Hyde Pierce has been cast in the Vineyard Theatre's Developmental Lab Production of THE LANDING (previously titled 'Andra') -- a collection of three related one-act musicals written by the celebrated composer John Kander and his new collaborator, Greg Pierce - to be directed by Scott Ellis, with David Loud as musical director, it has been announced by artistic director Douglas Aibel and co-artistic director Sarah Stern.
