'Rockin' in Rhythm' Youth Tap Showcase Comes to Symphony Space Tonight

The American Tap Dance Foundation (ATDF) presents 'Rockin' in Rhythm' tonight, February 16th, at 7:30 pm at the Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. Dance from the Heart returns to New York City Tonight - Monday, January 28 and tomorrow Tuesday, January 29, 2013 with shows at 6:30pm & 8:30pm each night at Cedar Lake Theater, 547 W. 26th Street in Manhattan's West Chelsea Historic District. The exciting benefit will feature performances by more than a dozen of the most diverse dancers, dance companies and choreographers working today. Dance from the Heart will present a different program of performances for each night (see schedule below), a poignant anti-bullying number danced by teenagers and the world premiere of a piece choreographed by American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Marcelo Gomes. On October 16-21, Kennessaw State University presents Kander and Ebb's Tony Award-Winning Broadway classic, Cabaret. Performances are Tuesday-Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm at the Howard Logan Stillwell Theatre.
This production features choreography by the Off-Broadway choreographer and acclaimed tap dancer Jen MacQueen, who recently choreographed both the new chamber version of Sweet Charity and the premiere of Clyde 'n' Bonnie the musical. (more...)

Rehearsals have begun at Milton High School for their production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. This show will perform March 14-17, directed by Renee Denney and music directed by Leigh Ann Shaw. The cast is full of experienced high schoolers, some of whom also appeared in Milton's successful production of HAIRSPRAY in spring 2011. It will feature choreography by the Off-Broadway choreographer and acclaimed tap dancer Jen MacQueen, who choreographed the recent Atlanta production of A Chorus Line at Aurora Theatre, for which she received a BroadwayWorld (Atlanta) Award Nomination for Best Choreography in a Musical. On Tuesday, April 28th, WNYC Radio will open the doors of its new street-level public space, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. WYNC will host a 10-day festival to celebrate the new facility. Special Guests for the celebration will include Brian Stokes Mitchell, Liz Calloway, Rosie Perez, Peter Gerety, Jill Clayburgh, David Rabe, Ayodele Casel, Paul Krugman, Lou Reed, Ira Glass, Jason Moran, Cornel West, ETHEL String Quartet, Joy Behar, Richard Goode, Sonia Sanchez, Simone Dinnerstein, and ELMO, among others.
