Single tickets for Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! are now on sale online at www.TheOldGlobe.org. The annual holiday musical, directed by James Vasquez with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, November 17 - December 29. Celebrating the artistic legacy of Theodor Seuss Geisel, twenty-four of the most sought-after artworks will be presented at the gallery with recent releases from The Art of Dr. Seuss collection, offering a rare opportunity for visitors to view and experience one of the largest selections of authorized estate editions ever assembled. Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment founder Chris Meledandri announced today the principal talent for the 3D-CGI feature Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, an adaptation of Dr. Seuss' classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax is the third feature created by Illumination and Universal and will be released March 2, 2012. (more...)

Old Globe to Host 'Cat in the Hat' Series, 9/6

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe, in partnership with KPBS, will host a special screening of 'The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!,' a new animated television series airing on the PBS KIDS programming block on KPBS-TV and designed to support science learning for preschoolers. The free event will take place on Monday, September 6 in the Old Globe Theatre. All children in attendance will receive complimentary goody bags and may have their photos taken with The Cat in the Hat himself. The Grinch from the Globe's annual holiday production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will also make a special appearance.
