LORETTA SWIT In LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE

Emmy® Award-winning actress Loretta Swit is the first cast member announced for Asolo Repertory Theatres summer production of Love, Loss, and What I Wore. Swit is known by audiences for her quick-witted and impassioned portrayal of Major Margaret Hot Lips Houlihan on televisions beloved series, M*A*S*H. Swit has been honored with two Emmy® Awards and ten nominations, a Peoples Choice Award, and eight Golden Globe® nominations.

Asolo Rep Presents FANNY BRICE, AMERICA'S FUNNY GIRL

Fanny Brice, America's Funny Girl will open May 23, 2012 and run until June 17, 2012. Previews begin May 20. Fanny Brice, Americas Funny Girl is a reworking of Maltz Jupiter Theatres 2009 hit production Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl. Writer and Director David H. Bell modified the script and is bringing Asolo Rep the most inspiring version yet. TCPalm raved, Marya Grandy may not be the real Fanny Brice
but she just might be a new version of Ethel Merman. Thats with a little Patti LuPone and the emotional singing delivery al a Judy Garland tossed in for good measure. WJTW FM said what really brought the audience to its feet for a standing ovation however was the finale

"I was sound asleep this morning because I didn't expect anything! Then my agent called and I suspected something. As soon as I got the news I just started crying in bed in my pjs. I'm so honored and shocked and grateful and the show is being remembered in some way. I feel like it's a dream and I'm so happy that Jeremy Jordan was nominated for Newsies, too! We've been texting each other this morning. I had plans to have a baking day with a friend, but now it will be sprinkled with extra joy."

Asolo Repertory Theatre Presents HAMLET, PRINCE OF CUBA, 3/23-5/6

Asolo Repertory Theatre announces its final 2012 repertory production, Hamlet, Prince of Cuba, adapted and directed by Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards and featuring a Spanish translation by Pulitzer Prize-winner Nilo Cruz. Hamlet, Prince of Cuba will run March 23 through May 6 in the Mertz Theatre. Previews (in English) will begin March 21. Set in late 19th century Cuba, the show will have two performances in Spanish with English supertitles. Spanish performances will be May 3 at 8 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. After concluding its run at Asolo Rep, the show will move to the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center where it will perform May 11-13. Hamlet, Prince of Cuba will feature guest artist Frankie J. Alvarez as Hamlet, Gisela Chípe (of Asolo Reps Yentl) as Ophelia, Emilio Delgado as Claudius (known for his performance as Luis on Sesame Street), Mercedes Herrero as Gertrude and Andhy Mendez as Laertes. Full Cast Announced for Encores! PIPE DREAM

Casting is complete for Rodgers and Hammersteins Pipe Dream, the second Encores! production of the 2011-12 season, running March 28 April 1. Pipe Dream will be directed by Marc Bruni with music direction by Rob Berman and choreography by Kelli Barclay.
