APAC Announces BLOOD BROTHERS Extension

THE ASTORIA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (APAC) is pleased to announce the one-week extension of Willy Russell's (Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine) BLOOD BROTHERS, musical staging by Christine O'Grady, musical direction by Julianne B. Merrill, and directed by Tom Wojtunik. After playing to sold-out audiences and receiving critical acclaim, such as John Simon remarking, 'A tasteful revival of a worthwhile show, which you will want to catch whether or not you have seen the musical before,' BLOOD BROTHERS will extend a week at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (30-44 Crescent St, Astoria, NY 11102. The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre will present the third annual "Night of A Thousand Judys" on Monday, June 17. The Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center will take place at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center (129 West 67th Street in New York). "Night of A Thousand Judys" will honor the legendary singer and actress Judy Garland with special skits, tributes and songs from her storied career. There will be a pre-show VIP reception at 6:30 PM and the show at 8:00 PM. The show is written and hosted by Justin Sayre and Lance Horne serves as Music Director. The show will feature performances by Martha Wash ("It's Raining Men"), Madeleine Peyroux (platinum-selling vocalist), Christiane Noll (Tony Award nominee for Ragtime), Karen Mason (Wonderland, Hairspray), Molly Pope (Village Voice "Best of NYC 2011") and Danielle Grabianowski (Sleep No More) in addition to other names to be announced.
