THE OTHER PLACE Hosts Sloan Panel Discussion Today

Manhattan Theatre Club announces the guests for the upcoming Sloan panel discussing Sharr White's The Other Place. The panel will focus on the role of science in the play and will feature novelist Stefan Merrill Block, author of The Story of Forgetting; playwright Sharr White; neuroscientist Heather Berlin; and genetic counselor Jill Goldman. The panel will be moderated by NPR's Robert Krulwich. The panel will follow the 2 PM matinee performance today, January 27 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). (more...)

Nichola McAuliffe's MAURICE'S JUBILEE Launches UK Tour Today

Following a sell out run at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival, Maurice's Jubilee will go on a national tour from this month, January 2013. This is Olivier Award winning Nichola McAuliffe's most recent play and she will reprise her role as Katie, alongside Olivier Award winning Julian Glover (Maurice) and SheiLA Reid* (Helena). Maurice's Jubilee is directed by multiple Fringe First winner Hannah Eidinow and has design by Christopher Richardson. (more...)

Tamsin Greig and John Sessions to Lead LONGING at Hampstead Theatre

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) just announced the 2012 recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions for Manhattan Theatre Club. This year's six commissioned writers are April De Angelis (Jumpy), Nick Jones (The Coward), Heidi Schreck (Creature), Melissa Ross (Thinner Than Water), Sarah Treem (A Feminine Ending), and Bess Wohl (Barcelona). As part of the current three-play Royal Court at the Duke of York's Season with Posh by Laura Wade, Jumpy by April De Angelis and Constellations by Nick Payne, four of the UK's leading playwrights will direct one of their all-time favourite plays in a series of one-off afternoon readings from 29 June at the Duke of York's Theatre in a special event supported by The Ambassador Theatre Group.
Nick Payne, Polly Stenham, Roy Williams and David Eldridge will select their favourite plays and will have less than two days to bring their vision to life with a full cast to be announced for staged readings on Friday afternoons this summer. (more...)
