Aurora Theatre Sets 2013 Barbara Awards Gala Celebration for 2/11

Aurora Theatre, Gwinnett's only professional theatre, presents the 2013 Barbara Awards Gala Celebration on Monday, February 11, 2013. This year, the awards, named in honor of arts philanthropist Barbara Howard, will honor a couple who truly built Aurora Theatre's new home and for whom our stage is named, Clyde and Sandra Strickland. After providing the lead gift for Aurora Theatre's Creating the Castle Capital Campaign, they continue their critical support as Season Sponsor and Sustaining Patron. Clyde and Sandra Strickland have been a vibrant part of our community for many years, and have become perhaps Gwinnett County's most active philanthropists. In the last few years alone, they have given generously to the Gwinnett Medical Center, Hope Clinic, and Rainbow Village. Other outstanding efforts include: Gwinnett Historical Society; American Cancer Society; Habitat for Humanity, and the Central Gwinnett Cluster Foundation. This night will be an opportunity for all to honor their tremendous contributions to this region. (more...)

Christmas Canteen 2012 is Aurora Theatre's original annual holiday musical extravaganza. This living Christmas card overflows with nostalgic music that will evoke warm holiday memories. Gwinnett County's longest running theatrical holiday tradition combines the sentimentality of a television variety special with the high energy of a USO show. For thousands of North Georgians, it's just not Christmas until they hear their Canteen favorites and this year the show is jam packed with more holiday tunes than ever. (more...)

Anthony Rodriguez returns for a sixth year with his compelling solo performance of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. Similar to the way Charles Dickens performed his stories by the fireside in Victorian England, Mr. Rodriguez focuses on the classic art of storytelling. Using his voice and mannerisms, Rodriguez brings life to Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Jacob Marley and the astonishing ghosts found in the greatest Christmas story of all time. (more...)
