Soho Rep Announces FEED Programming for UNCLE VANYA

Playwright Annie Baker and director Sam Gold—whose previous collaborations include The Aliens and Circle Mirror Transformation—have reunited to stage a new version of Chekhov’s masterwork, Uncle Vanya. Soho Rep, in association with John Adrian Selzer, will present the world premiere production June 7—July 15. Soho Rep will also offer FEED companion programming throughout the run; see details below. TCG Books Releases THE VERMONT PLAYS by Annie Baker

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of The Vermont Plays, the debut collection of plays by Obie Award-winning playwright Annie Baker (The Aliens, Circle Mirror Transformation). Ms. Baker’s works have been developed and produced at Huntington Theatre Company, Magic Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop and Playwrights Horizons, among others. Her adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya will premiere at New York City’s Soho Rep in June, and her newest play, The Flick, will premiere at Playwrights Horizons in the 2012-2013 season. (more...)

Playwrights Horizons' RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN Begins Previews May 18

Previews begin this Friday, May 18 for the Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) World Premiere of RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Gina Gionfriddo (Becky Shaw). Directed by Peter DuBois (Becky Shaw, Sons of the Prophet, Measure for Pleasure, Jack Goes Boating, Artistic Director of Huntington Theatre Company), the play is the final production of the theater company’s 2011/2012 Season. Opening Night is set for Tuesday, June 12 at 7PM and the limited engagement will play through Sunday, June 24 at Playwrights Horizons’ Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). (more...)

Playwrights, actors and directors from around the country will travel to McCall and, working with local artists and students, develop ten new plays that will be presented to the public free of charge. Playwrights Foundation Launches Des Voix...Found in Translation Festival, 5/25-5/27

Playwrights Foundation and Cultural Services of the Consulate General of France/SF is spear-heading a major new international exchange project, Des Voix...Found In Translation, that supports the translation of vanguard French and American playwrights and promotes their work to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. The San Francisco festival will feature translations of new plays by three emerging playwrights working in France today. Plays by Marion Aubert (pink picture), Nathalie Fillion (blue picture), and Samuel Gallet (yellow picture) will be performed in English during a Festival, scheduled from May 25-27, 2012, in a producing partnership with Z Space, a theater located in San Francisco's vibrant, cutting-edge Mission District and Deborah Taylor/FireMused Productions, LLC.
