Lee Evans stole the show tonight, Sunday 28 April, when he presented the 2013 Olivier Award for Best Director to Marianne Elliott. Before Ms Elliott had a chance to accept the award, Lee ate his way through it, creating great hilarity in the audience at the Royal Opera House. The specially made cake replicating the famous statuette of Laurence Olivier was created by Fat Cakes owner, Mia Tambini, a contemporary cake maker based in East Sussex. #searchforatwitterstar, the online talent competition being run by the Twitter phenomenon @westendproducer, is being brought to the West End stage. With hundreds of entries to the talent search via Youtube and Twitter, 10 Finalists - five male and five female - will battle it out in a live final to become a potential Leading Lady and Leading Man of the West End, at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, today, 9th July. Paul Baker Returns to TABOO; Set to Reprise Role of 'Sallon' in New London Production by BWW News Desk - Jun 27, 2012
As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, producers Danielle Tarento and Bronia Buchanan will present a new production of Boy George's Taboo at Brixton Club House following last month's launch of the VIP Gold Room, marking the multi-purpose venue's first foray into theatre.
Today, it has been revealed that the show will star one of its original leading men, Paul Baker, as the club's promoter Philip Sallon. Baker won an Olivier award for the role in 2003. He is additionally known for his performances in the West End productions of Chicago (Amos), Napoleon (Napoleon), the original cast of The Lion King (Zazu, Timon) and Starlight Express (Rusty).
