A new play about the late Italian actress Anna Magnani, MAMMA ROMA -- written and performed by Anne DeSalvo, winner of the Obie Award for her performance in GEMINI -- will be presented by Cherry Lane Theatre's MENTOR PROJECT from April 3 to 14 at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan. The fully improvised live sitcom, Naked in a Fishbowl, films its next six episodes with a new casting director, Katja Blichfeld (30 Rock, NBC), and a new theater, The Cherry Lane. Starting Monday, July 18 and running through August 15, Naked will run for six episodes starting at 7pm. Each show is 60 minutes long. (more...)

According to the NY Times, Cherry Lane Theatre's Angelina Fiordellisi, will resign as Artistic Director sometime between March and June of 2011. Additionally, Fiordellisi plans to sell the building, which has been a Greenwich Village staple since 1924, due to ongoing financial struggles. (more...)
