The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, recently honored Tony Award winner André De Shields (Hadestown) with the 2019 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre and producer Riki Kane Larimer (Cagney) with The York Theatre Company Founders' Award on Monday evening, November 11, 2019 at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

Last night, May 23, the Outer Critics Circle Award ceremony was held!

Mark (Mr. Mount) and Jason (Mr. Moreno) were keeping things casual until Jason got pregnant. Several original cast members from the iconic Broadway premiere production of THE WIZ convened last night in honor of the show's 40th anniversary in a series of special performances. Phylicia Rashad, Andre De Shields, Dee Dee Bridgewater and more will joined to celebrate the musical in Central Park and Marcus Garvey Park with a series of special outdoor celebrations featuring song, story and dance titled THE WIZ: A CELEBRATION IN DANCE & MUSIC. The Public Theater will begin previews forTHE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, a world premiere musical based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem, on Tuesday, September 30. With a book by Itamar Moses, music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, and conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE will run through Sunday, November 2, with an official press opening on Wednesday, October 22. PTP/NYC, formerly known as The Potomac Theatre Project, in association with Middlebury College, presents its 25th repertory season, its 5th consecutive in New York, running through July 31 in a limited engagement at The Atlantic Stage 2, located at 330 West 16th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues in New York City. This season's Off-Broadway line-up includes: the U.S. Premiere of Howard Barker's Victory: Choices in Reaction, starring four-time Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award-winner Jan Maxwell in her 4th collaboration with PTP, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director and NYIT Award nominee Richard Romagnoli (American Associate of The Wrestling School); the U.S. Premiere of Steven Dykes' Territories, two stories of politics and desire, The Spoils and a light gathering of dust, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Cheryl Faraone; and a revival of Neal Bell's Spatter Pattern: or, How I Got Away With It, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Jim Petosa.

Two-Time Tony Award nominee Andre De Shields, who recently dazzled as Applegate in the John W. Engeman Theater production of Damn Yankees, came out to support his ARCHBISHOP SUPREME TARTUFFE director Alfred Preisser and choreographer Tracy Jack at the West End Theater in New York last night, where the Dog Run Rep world premiere of Jeff Cohen's The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller, directed by Mr. Preisser and choreographed by and featuring Ms. Jack, is currently playing a limited engagement through October 3. After the show, castmembers were delighted to meet the Broadway vet.
