Bedlam's SAINT JOAN Revival to Return Off-Broadway at Access Theater, 3/6

Access Theater will present a 4-week encore engagement of Bedlam's critically acclaimed Off-Broadway revival of George Bernard Shaw's rarely produced 1923 masterpiece SAINT JOAN. In this bold, environmental staging directed by Eric Tucker, Shaw's play is performed in its entirety using an ensemble of only four actors to play all 24 roles. Performances begin March 6 at Access Theater where it will play in repertory with a new production of HAMLET as performed by the same four actors. (more...)

Bedlam follows up it's critically acclaimed revival of Shaw's Saint Joan (named 2012's Best Revival of A Play by The Wall Street Journal and called 'a production to be treasured' by The New York Times) with HAMLET. In this bold, environmental staging directed by Eric Tucker, Shakespeare's classic drama is performed by an ensemble of only four actors. This Off-off-Broadway presentation marks the first time in 19 years that SAINT JOAN has been staged professionally in New York City. In this bold, environmental staging directed by Eric Tucker, Shaw's play is performed in its entirety using an ensemble of only four actors to play all 24 roles. Andrus Nichols (who appeared this spring in 'The Libertine' in NYC with The Fools' Theatre, and last season as Electra in the We Players' production of 'Iphigenia & Other Daughters,' also on Alcatraz) is slated to play the title role of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet,' which will have a limited engagement on Alcatraz Island from October 2nd- November 21st 2010. This site-specific and ambulatory production, which will be directed by Ava Roy ('Macbeth' at Fort Point, 'The Tempest' on the Albany Bulb, 'Jabberwocky' at the Stanford Mausoleum), is being presented by We Players.
