Students Compete for $2K Scholarship Sponsored by THE ADDAMS FAMILY

The upcoming L.A. premiere of THE ADDAMS FAMILY at the Pantages has partnered with Time Warner Cable Media and Browning Mazda to award a Southland high school student a $2,000 college scholarship sponsored by the national anti-bullying initiative No Snap Judgments. The scholarship will be awarded to the winning entrant of a special No Snap Judgments Essay Contest. Interested students may write and submit essays online; the goal of which is to encourage students to look beyond first impressions and discover how our commonalities outweigh our differences. Through the lens of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, the No Snap Judgmentsprogram empowers youths to engage others with openness, respect and acceptance. ( more...)

THE ADDAMS FAMILY to Make LA Premiere, 6/5-17

Broadway/L.A. today announced that THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, will make its L.A. Premiere at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood for a limited 2 week engagement from June 5 17.

NBC Picks Up Steven Pasquale-Led DO NOT HARM

2012 Lotte Lenya Competition Winners Announced

Matthew Grills, tenor, of Rochester, N.Y, won the $15,000 First Prize in the finals of the 2012 Lotte Lenya Competition, held on April 21, 2012, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. In a close contest, Justin Hopkins, bass-baritone of Philadelphia, and Jacob Keith Watson, tenor of Wynne, Ark., tied for Second Prizes of $10,000, and Megan Marino, mezzo-soprano of Malvern, Penn., was awarded the Third Prize of $7,500. Since their creation in the 1930s by cartoonist Charles Addams, the Addams Family clan Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley and Uncle Fester has managed to infiltrate popular culture. Whether it's singing along to the finger-snapping theme song from the 1960s television show or instant recognition of the macabre characters, most everyone has a connection to the Addamses. That's one reason the touring production of THE ADDAMS FAMILY was so disappointing. ( more...)

THE ADDAMS FAMILY Cast to Host Dance Class, 4/18

The PlayhouseSquare is set to welcome the bizarre and beloved THE ADDAMS FAMILY national tour from April 10 through the 22. During its run at the Palace Theatre, the cast of the production will be offering a master dance class, teaching locals the moves and routine to the show's opening number. Participants must be advanced level high school or college students, or local professional artists. Ages 14 and up only, please. Others are welcome to observe. Participation is free, however, advance registration is required.
