Alfred Solis and Keith Robinson have announced that STANDBY - The Musical has been extended as part of the 2012 FringeNYC Encore Series, featuring the best shows from the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival. This appearance is part of her nationwide tour in support of her new album Leave Your Sleep. The tour will be Merchant's first major outing in seven years. This is yet another milestone for Deutsch's independent label, which also saw their double-CD release of the OCR 'In The Heights' debut at #1 on Billboard Magazine's Cast Album Chart, and then jump into the Top Ten of Amazon.com's overall CD sales ranking following the production's Tony Award win for Best Musical. Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the 2012 Next Wave Festival, in its 30th year. The festival runs from September 5 to January 19 and comprises dance, theater, music, music-theater, nouveau cirque, film, and multimedia events. This season, BAM presents its first engagements at the new BAM Richard B. Fisher Building. The Fishman Space, a flexible 250-seat venue, will be showcased in various configurations with 15 diverse productions. The Next Wave Festival also features BAMcafé Live weekend music events, BAMcinématek programs, visual art exhibitions, artist talks, and literary events. (more...)
