Lincoln Center Theatre to Open Claire Tow Theater with SLOWGIRL

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that the Claire Tow Theater, its newest stage at Lincoln Center and the future home to its programming initiative LCT3, will open in June with the LCT3 world premiere production of SLOWGIRL, a new play by Greg Pierce. Elizabeth Marvel to Return to OTHER DESERT CITIES, 3/6

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that Elizabeth Marvel will return to the cast of its critically acclaimed production of OTHER DESERT CITIES, a new play by Jon Robin Baitz, directed by Joe Mantello, beginning Tuesday, March 6 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45 Street). Ms. Marvel, who created the role of Brooke Wyeth when OTHER DESERT CITIES premiered at LCTÂ’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater last winter, will join Stockard Channing, Stacy Keach, Judith Light and Justin Kirk in the production, replacing Rachel Griffiths who will play her final performance in the play on Sunday, March 4. On Sunday, November 6, 2011, Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU), now celebrating its 20th year, will host the 2011 TRU Love Benefit at Caroline's on Broadway (1626 Broadway between 49th and 50th ). The Benefit was created to honor those who have lent standout service to the theatrical community. This year's award recipients are producer Bruce Lazarus; Ben Cameron and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation; and Lou Rodgers of Golden Fleece Limited. (more...)

Bartlett Sher to Helm BLOOD AND GIFTS at LCT this Fall

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced plans to produce BLOOD AND GIFTS , a new play by J.T. Rogers, to be directed by Bartlett Sher, this fall in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater Previews begin Thursday, October 27. Opening night is Monday, November 21. Paulo Szot, who has recently emerged as one of the most exciting voices in opera and who won a Tony for his performance as Emile de Becque in the Lincoln Center Theater (Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) production of SOUTH PACIFIC, will be recreating the role of the French plantation owner at the Barbican Centre in London, where the production will run for a limited season of 7 weeks only from 15 August to 1 October, with an opening night on 23 August. Anne Cattaneo Wins 2011 Margo Jones Award

The Ohio State University Arts and Humanities and University Libraries' Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute has announced that it will present the prestigious 2011 Margo Jones Award to Lincoln Center Theater dramaturg Anne Cattaneo. The award, which will be presented to Ms. Cattaneo in a ceremony in the Vivian Beaumont Theater lobby on Monday, July 11 beginning at 5:30, is given annually to a "citizen-of-the-theatre who has demonstrated a significant impact, understanding and affirmation of the craft of playwriting, with a lifetime commitment to the encouragement of the living theatre everywhere."
