On the occasion of the UN General Assembly, composer, singer, author, actor, and activist Sting and Trudie Styler, actress, film producer, director, human rights activist, environmentalist and UNICEF Ambassador, will be honored for their worldwide environmental work today, September 25 at The Harvard Club in New York City by the Cinema for Peace Foundation and the BMZ, Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Previews recently began for the LCT3 production of 4000 Miles, a new play by Amy Herzog, directed by Daniel Aukin. The final of three productions during LCt3's 2010-2011 season, the new production features the talents of Broadway veteran Gabriel Ebert and Tony winner Mary Louise Wilson. Lincoln Square announces its October lineup of events starting with New York City's largest holiday festival, Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square. The event will take place on Monday, November 29, 2010. Now in its 11th year, Winter's Eve features free entertainment, food tastings, family fun and live music along Broadway from Time Warner Center to 68th Street. Tens of thousands of people flock to Lincoln Square on the first Monday after Thanksgiving to enjoy great food, more than 20 free musical and dance performances, children's activities, ice-sculpting, and special shopping promotions at area retailers. To kick off the evening's festivities, we will once again host a neighborhood tree lighting ceremony at Dante Park at Broadway and 63rd Street at 5:30pm. (more...)

With the extraordinary literary heritage, vibrant publishing community and international reading audience of Brooklyn and New York City as its backdrop, the Festival offered the best and brightest stars in contemporary literature. Each year, the Brooklyn Book Festival 'BoBi' award is given to an author who has made a broad impact on the field of literature. This year's recipient is John Ashbery, who will be honored at the Brooklyn Book Festival Gala Mingle on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The award was established in the Festival's second year. Previous BoBi recipients are Edwidge Danticat (2009), Walter Mosley (2008) and Paul Auster (2007).
