Confirmed! GODSPELL to Perform at 2012 Tony Awards

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the revival of GODSPELL on Broadway, despite a lack of Tony nominations, will make an appearance on the 2012 broadcast to perform a selection from the musical. At this time, there is no official word or confirmation on who, or what the cast will be performing.

2012 Tony Awards Will Host Times Square Visitor Center Showcase

The Tony Awards will host the second annual Tony Awards Showcase at the Times Square Museum and Visitor Center (located on Seventh Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets). The Tony Awards Showcase will run from today through the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. Admission to the 2012 Tony Showcase is free to the public. ( more...)

FUSION Playwriting Winner Eric Eberwein's THE RETURN ENGAGEMENT Plays 6/7-10

FUSION Theatre Company, New Mexicos professional theatre company, has announced that playwright Eric Eberwein is one of the seven winners of FUSIONs seventh annual short works festival, The Seven. Huntington Beach resident Eberweins work, The Return Engagement, was chosen from a submission pool of 748 scripts from 43 states and nine countries. FUSION will produce the world-premiere of Mr. Eberweins play June 7th-10th at The Cell Theatre in Albuquerque, NM. The Seven is the theatrical tentpole event of the Savor Albuquerque Arts Festival. Guthrie's 2012-2013 Season Includes Tony-Nominated Roger Rees, OTHER DESERT CITIES & CLYBOURNE PARK

The Guthrie's 2012-13 season features three major Tony Award nominees, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris and Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz, which were both nominated for Best Play. The Guthries upcoming season also features Roger Rees as director of Crispin Whittells new play The Primrose Path. Rees has been nominated for a 2012 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for his work on Peter and the Starcatcher. ( more...)

On Tuesday, May 1, The American Theatre Wing announced the nominees for the 2012 Tony Awards, and Hartt graduates are among the honorees. The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards, named for the late Antoinette Perry an actress, director, producer, and the dynamic wartime leader of the American Theatre Wing got their start in 1947 when the Wing established an awards program to celebrate excellence in the theatre. The Tony Awards® Administration Committee has announced that Bernadette Peters will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Award. Additionally, the Administration Committee will bestow Special Tony Awards to Actors Equity Association and to Hugh Jackman. These awards will be presented at the 2012 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. The 2012 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
