Last night The Stella Adler Studio of Acting held its Seventh Annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala at The Players Club in New York City. This yearÂ’s honorees included Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones, Daryl Roth, Ed Schultz and Masa Tanaka. Notable attendees included co-chair of the evening, Kate Mulgrew, and Broadway director George C. Wolfe who presented producer Daryl Roth with her award. Check out photos from the event below! The 20th Anniversary season of New York City Center’s Tony Award-winning Encores! series will open on January 30, 2013 with Fiorello!, the show that launched the series in 1994. The season will continue with It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman, followed by On Your Toes. A Gala Encores! at 20 Celebration on November 12, 2012 will star Tony Award nominees and Encores! alumni Rauìl Esparza and Kelli O’Hara. (more...)

9 US Premieres Plus URBAN Set for New Victory Theatre 2012-13 Season

The New Victory Theater will launch its 2012-13 season with the U.S. premiere of URBAN by Circolombia, an edgy, thrilling and inspiring circus featuring young Colombian performers who share their real-life stories through acrobatics, aerial work and tremendous feats of strength. URBAN, which was originally commissioned by Roundhouse London as part of CircusFest 2010, will run from October 12 through October 21. (more...)

Company XIV, in association with Morningside Opera and SIREN Baroque, presents the World Premiere of Judge Me Paris, a Baroque Burlesque Opera, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick. Judge Me Paris includes excerpts from John Eccles and John WeldonÂ’s Baroque opera The Judgment of Paris, sung by Morningside Opera, with a libretto by William Congreve, Baroque music performed by SIREN Baroque, and additional text by Jeff Takacs. A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE Extends Through the Summer; Now to End Run August 19

The acclaimed Broadway production of Tennessee WilliamsÂ’ A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Emily Man will extend its run through August 19, 2012. Streetcar began performances on April 3 and opened on April 22 and was originally set to end its limited run on July 22 at the Broadhurst. (more...)

Smack in the middle of the club, with the audience surrounding the sunken stage and close enough to touch the dancers, choreographers will present their unique way of storytelling and vision for BroadwayÂ’s future. Dixon Place will present the world premiere of Rachel Klein's Symphony of Shadows: A Tale From the Land Beyond the Veil on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from June 8 to at 7:30pm at Dixon Place / 161A Chrystie Street. This movement-based spectacular tells the story of a woman combating a variety of sleep disorders, phantasmagorical night terrors, hypnotic horrors, and other, visually stunning conjurings from the subconscious depths of her own disturbed mind. Symphony of Shadows merges striking elements of circus and aerial arts, dance and movement, burlesque, and operatic productions to vividly illustrate its storyline in a genre defying form, which "evokes a live-action silent film." The McCallum Theatre, the Coachella ValleyÂ’s premiere theatrical venue, celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season with a star-studded lineup of Classical Music, Jazz, Cabaret, Comedy and a Broadway Blockbuster Series which includes Rock of Ages, Dreamgirls and West Side Story. The McCallum Theatre opened its doors on January 2, 1988 with a gala performance honoring Bob Hope that was nationally televised. Since then The McCallum has been the Coachella ValleyÂ’s mecca for world-class entertainment including an extensive array of Broadway and Cabaret offerings. The man behind the tremendous success of the McCallumÂ’s eclectic performance calendar for the past thirteen years is Mitch Gershenfeld, Director of Presentations and Theatre Operations, who will take the helm as the theatreÂ’s President and CEO beginning June 1. I had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Gershenfeld as he begins preparations for The McCallumÂ’s exciting Silver Anniversary Season. Van Wezel’s 2011-2012 Season Chalks Up Over $6 Million in Sales

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has just completed one of the most successful seasons in the theaterÂ’s forty-two year history, surpassing last seasonÂ’s sales. This yearÂ’s sales were $6,207,790 and 108,737 tickets sold, while last yearÂ’s sales were $5,559,227 and 99,946 tickets sold. This amount consists of Van Wezel presented Main Stage performances only, and does not take into account local companies, event rentals, and Van Wezel Schooltime performances. (more...)

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE to Offer $29.50 Student Rush Tickets

A Streetcar Named Desire today announced that it will offer a limited number of student rush tickets for $29.50. Tickets will be available at the box office on the day of the performance, and each current student ID is eligible for two tickets.
