Closing Aurora Theatre Company's 21st season is the Bay Area Premiere of Neil LaBute's dark, edgy comic drama THIS IS HOW IT GOES, directed by Aurora Theatre Company Artistic Director Tom Ross (A Delicate Balance). Ross helmed LaBute's The Shape of Things, the first LaBute play produced in the Bay Area, in 2003. Featuring Aldo Billingslea (Collapse), Gabriel Marin (Collapse, Jack Goes Boating), and Carrie Paff (A Delicate Balance, Collapse, Betrayal), THIS IS HOW IT GOES presents a one-two punch after LaBute's Fat Pig (staged at Aurora in 2009). Tweaking perspectives of truth and interpretation to broach sharp questions about race, love, and manipulation,THIS IS HOW IT GOES, about which the Chicago Tribune raved "Highly recommended! LaBute's play has a lot of sting and nothing is as it seems!" plays June 14 through July 21 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. 8th Annual Holiday Cheer for FUV Concert Lineup Announced

Shawn Colvin, Shelby Lynne, and special guest Steve Earle, have been added to the lineup for the 8th annual Holiday Cheer for FUV concert on Wednesday, December 5th at 8:00 p.m. at the Beacon Theatre. They join the previously announced headliner Lucinda Williams, as well as the emerging band Lake Street Dive, who will perform a short set. Tickets for the concert to benefit New York's Rock & Roots public radio station WFUV (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) are priced from $40 - $120 (plus a $5 facility fee) and are available through Ticketmaster.

Amandine, ten years in the making, is a collaboration between three of New York City's most distinctive theater artists: Winter Miller, 13P founding member who penned In Darfur (The Public Theater), among other acclaimed plays; Lance Horne, Emmy Award-winning composer and pianist known for his own work and collaborations with Alan Cumming, Amanda Palmer, Meow Meow, Sandra Bernhard and Justin Vivian Bond; and Drama Desk Award- winning director Josh Hecht (Christine Jorgensen Reveals), who specializes in new plays. Amandine is a singular love story, inspired by the incredible memoirs of Herculine Barbin, a 19th century intersex person who was raised a girl and died a man. The ensemble cast includes Broadway veterans Lea DeLaria, Nathan Lee Graham and Alexandra Silber, in a world premiere at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) main stage January 8-26, 2013.

Playwrights Foundation and Cultural Services of the Consulate General of France/SF is spear-heading a major new international exchange project, Des Voix...Found In Translation, that supports the translation of vanguard French and American Playwrights and promotes their work to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. The San Francisco festival features translations of new plays by three emerging playwrights working in France today. Plays by Marion Aubert (pink picture), Nathalie Fillion (blue picture), and Samuel Gallet (yellow picture) will be performed in English during a Festival, scheduled from today, May 25 through May 27, 2012, in a producing partnership with Z Space, a theater located in San Francisco's vibrant, cutting-edge Mission District and Deborah Taylor/FireMused Productions, LLC.

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company has announced a call for submissions for its eighth season of the Global Age Project (GAP) festival of new works. The company will choose four new plays to be presented as staged readings with professional directors and actors during the GAP festival in February of 2013; the festival will coincide with the company's fully-staged World Premiere of Anthony Clarvoe's OUR PRACTICAL HEAVEN, directed by Allen McKelvey, the third Aurora main stage production to develop from the GAP. Each of the four finalists will receive a $1,000 award and their work will be considered for further development and production during Aurora Theatre Company's regular season; out of town artists will receive travel and accommodation expenses. The submission period opens today, May 22; deadline for play submission is July 31, 2012. Finalists will be announced in early December 2012.

Azuka Theatre Closes Season with the Philadelphia Premiere of HAZARD COUNTY 6/20 - 7/1

Azuka Theatre is closing its season with the Philadelphia Premiere of Allison Moore's Hazard County. This 2005 Humana Festival piece will also mark the beginning of an annual program, The New Professionals. The show will be performed at Azuka's new home at the Off-Broad Street Theater at First Baptist Church, 1636 Sansom Street. The show starts previews June 14, opens Wednesday June 20 at 7 p.m., and closes Sunday July 1. Tickets cost $15-$27. Alfred R. Kahn, in association with Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director), will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Out of Iceland by Drew Larimore, directed by Josh Hecht. Michael Bakkensen, Jillian Crane and Lea DeLaria star. Out of Iceland will begin previews March 24th Off-Broadway at Walkerspace (46 Walker Street, between Broadway and Church). Opening night is set for Sunday April 1st (7pm). This limited engagement runs through Sunday April 22nd.
