One of the greatest joys of our job is seeing our audiences transformed by a theatre performance. At some point in Roundabouts 46-year history, youve likely experienced a play or musical that has inspired you. Roundabout has been fortunate to produce award-winning productions on Broadway for 20 years now. You may even recall our first Broadway production of Anna Christie at the Criterion Center in 1992. Last night, Monday, March 1, MCC Theatre hosted its starry Miscast Gala at The Hammerstein Ballroom. In attendance were Jordan Ballard, Jackie Burns, Raul Esparza, Sutton Foster, Kelsey Fowler, Montego Glover, Alison Horowitz, Anastacia McCleskey, Marin Mazzie, David Miller (Il Divo), Aaron Tveit, and Tom Wopat, host Mo Rocca, honoree Julianna Margulies, plus special guests Judith Light, Josh Charles, Quincy Tyler Bernstein, Sami Gayle and Isaac Mizrahi. Miller, Wopat, et al. Join 'Miscast' with Foster, Esparza for MCC Annual Gala, 3/1

MCC Theatre has announced additions to their all-star line-up for the company's highly anticipated annual gala, to be held next Monday, March 1, 2010 at The Hammerstein Ballroom. Complementing the glittering, previously announced miscast will be Tony Award-winner David Miller (one of the original members of Il Divo', Baz Luhrman's La Bohème), two time Tony Award-nominee Tom Wopat (Catch Me If You Can, A Catered Affair), Jordan Ballard (Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On, Hairspray), Jackie Burns (Hair), Kelsey Fowler (Sunday in the Park with George, Grey Gardens), Alison Horowitz (Sunday in the Park with George) and Anastacia McClesky (Catch Me If You Can, Tarzan). Easter Bonnet Competition Raises $3,734,129

Roundabout Theatre Hosts B'way Karaoke 5/5

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will host Broadway Karaoke on Monday, May 5th at Arena (135 West 41st Street). Come see some of Broadway's hottest performers uncensored and unrehearsed like you've never seen them before!
The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in Midtown's hottest nightclub, Arena. Next Seth Rudetsky hosts incredible off-the-cuff performances by some of the brightest stars on Broadway! Finally, the audience can get into the act with an hour of open mic karaoke! All proceeds will go to the Education Programs of Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the country's top not-for-profit theatres.
Broadway Karaoke will begin at 6:00PM with an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. The Broadway Karaoke performances kick off at 7:00PM followed by open mic at 8:00PM. The event concludes at 9:00PM.

'Sunday In The Park With George' Extends Until 6/29

Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of the Menier Chocolate Factory's Sunday in the Park with George has been extended an additional two weeks through Sunday, June 29th! This Olivier Award winning production of Stephen Sondheim & James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize winning musical Sunday in the Park with George, is directed by Sam Buntrock with musical staging by Christopher Gattelli.

Broadway diva Bernadette Peters and multiple Tony Award-winning legendary composer Stephen Sondheim visited the cast of Sunday in the Park with George on Wednesday, March 5 at Studio 54. Bernadette Peters created the role of Dot/Marie in the original Broadway production, penned by Sondheim. Current stars, Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell met the dynamic duo backstage. ( more...)

Review - Sunday in the Park With George & Flora, The Red Menace

The second act of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's 1984 musical, Sunday In The Park With George is centered on a then-contemporary artist/inventor named George who has created a series of machines called chromolumes, which electronically fill rooms with color and light. His latest, "Chromolume #7" is intended to present a variation on themes inspired from Georges Seurat's revolutionary work of pointillism "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" (1884-86), the creation of which is the subject of the musical's first act. When a technical glitch short circuits the machine and causes a temporary delay in the chromolume's premiere presentation, George sheepishly explains to those gathered, "No electricity, no art."
