Over 30 LGBTQI writers, playwrights, activists, and artists will read passages on camera from their favorite influential works of queer literature and poetry for the first marathon Virtual Global Queer READ-IN. Join 2020 Pulitzer Prize winner Jericho Brown, Maryland Poet Laureate Grace Cavalieri, actor Alfre Woodard, playwright Charles Busch, writer/poet Alexis De Veaux, singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins and more of this famous roster Thursday, June 25th starting at noon (Pacific Time) on Zoom and Twitch.

James Duke Walker Leads The Cast Of Controversial Cop Drama SPLIT SECOND At New Vibe Lounge

James Duke Walker, who won a string of acting awards for his film debut in the independent short thriller Roadside Assistance, will play the leading role of NYPD police office Val Johnson in the staged reading production of Dennis McIntyre's controversial police drama Split Second which comes to the New Vibe Lounge, Rockville Centre on Sunday November 17 at 7pm.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation's premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today the nominees for the 29th Annual IFP Gotham Awards. Ten competitive awards will be presented to independent features and series. In addition to the competitive awards, Gotham Tributes will be given to actors Laura Dern and Sam Rockwell, director Ava DuVernay, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Glen Basner.

Apollo Theater Presents An Advance Screening Of CLEMENCY As Part Of ImageNation's Cocktails & Cinema Series

The Apollo Theater announced today details outlining a partnership with the Harlem-based non-profit ImageNation Cinema Foundation to present ImageNation's Cocktails & Cinema, a quarterly social event which will feature screenings of films and media that showcase the global Black experience. The Theater proudly launches its new series with an advance screening of the film Clemency on November 21 at 7:00 p.m. Clemency, winner of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, was written and directed by Chinonye Chukwu, the first Black woman to win the Festival's top prize, and stars Alfre Woodard, Aldis Hodge, and Wendell Pierce. The feature film will be preceded by a reception and live performance by DJ Reborn beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Q&A after the film.

A newly unveiled Sing for Hope Piano helped mark the much-anticipated opening of The REACH at The Kennedy Center, the first new addition to The Kennedy Center since its grand opening nearly 50 years ago. As the United States' National Cultural Center, The Kennedy Center is the busiest of all U.S. performing arts venues, hosting more than 2,000 performances a year and serving as the home of both the National Symphony Orchestra and the Washington National Opera.
