On Sunday, May 19, at The Globe Theatre, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (www.gmcla.org), whose mission is to change hearts and minds through the power of music, presented the 2013 Voice Awards. This year the organization honored American Idol, AT&T, activists Fred Arens and Jason Duguay, and writer/director Liesel Reinhart. Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch, who stars in the hit FOX television show GLEE as ruthless cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, made her Broadway debut this week as tyrannical orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in Annie and BroadwayWorld.com was there to capture the celebrations of her joining the show including cast members from GLEE who came to cheer on Lynch. A FUNNY GIRL theme and returning guest star Idina Menzel? What more could any self-respecting Broadway baby - or, better yet, gleek - possibly ask for in an episode of GLEE 4.0? Well, last night, we got some out of control college antics - including hallway oil slides and the “Harlem Shake” in a fountain - sage wisdom via Coach Beiste (Dot Marie Jones) and Mr. Schue (Matt Morrison) and even an original tune by AVENUE Q's Tony Award-winning Jeff Marx, to name but a few fabulous features of the show. Yes, last night's GLEE was a continued effortlessly fun frolic and easy, breezy ride in the ever-entertaining musical series, acting as a sweet salve to last week's heart-stopping school shooting and ensuing Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) drama. A company of more than 25 stars of stage and screen entertained a packed house at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Saturday night (April 6) at the 29th Annual Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (S.T.A.G.E.). BWW TV's Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans of the JLE Media Group were on hand for an up close and personal look at the event , themed 'Broadway, My Way,' which raised more than $285,000 for HIV/AIDS direct care, education, and advocacy services offered by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).
