In this episode of 'In Focus', host Eden Lane brings you the Ballet Mistresses of Colorado Ballet's GISELLE. Lorita Travaglia's experience with this classic storybook ballet began with Nureyev and Evdokimova at Berlin Ballet in 1978. Sandra Brown's started at American Ballet Theater in 1988. Both of these incredible women have danced most of the roles form corps de ballet to soloist. Lane learns how this extensive experience helps the young dancers capture the unique spirit of 'Giselle'. In line with their mission of bringing the beauty of dance and the magic of ballet to the people, DTT presents BALLET IN THE PARK performance series from September 20 – 30, 2013. The performances will be held at the Centennial Park Bandshell and is being presented in partnership with Metro Parks and Recreation. The City of Nashville through its Metro Parks have launched successful partnerships in presenting classical music (Symphony) and classical theater (Shakespeare) in a relaxed, relatable and easily accessible setting and DTT is thrilled to partner with Metro Parks in presenting classical dance as another way for the city and the entire community to experience live performing arts up-close and personal. Named as “Best Dance Series in Nashville,” DTT is excited to bring back Ballet in the Park this time on a two-weekend run.

Almost 1,300 people came and joined us for just 2 performances. Another 250 of them staying late Sunday night to wait with us for the weather to hold up,' shares DTT Artistic Director Christopher Mohnani. 'The response we got from the audience, which gave us rousing ovations after only two performances, was a strong indication of the need for an outdoor classical dance series. We were so honored and grateful that Dance Theatre of Tennessee was able to fulfill that need,'

Principal Casting Announced for English National Ballet's LE CORSAIRE, Oct 17

Pacific Northwest Ballet opens its Box Office for 2013-2014 ticket sales on Monday, July 22. As is its tradition, PNB is offering aspecial money-saving deal to celebrate the company's 41st season: Pay no service fees on tickets purchased thru July 31. Tickets (as well as subscriptions) may be purchased through the PNB Box Office, either by phone (206.441.2424), online (pnb.org) or in person at 301 Mercer Street.

The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) will welcome Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet in an exclusive season in Brisbane in 2013. It has been almost two decades since this world renowned ballet company has performed in Australia. The Bolshoi Ballet season comprises 12 performances in QPAC's Lyric Theatre from today, 30 May to 9 June.

This Mother's Day weekend, Ballet Austin will present Giselle, the classic and beloved ballet of love, heartbreak and madness. Giselle is among ballet's great classics, with a lead role so challenging it has been known to make and break careers. Theophile Gautier-the influential French poet, author, critic and champion of the Romantic ballet-conceived Giselle in honor of ballerina Carlotta Grisi. With love, betrayal, heartbreak and forgiveness, Giselle brings a romantic close to the season. Giselle features choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, Music by Adolphe Adam. The score will be performed live by the Austin Symphony Orchestra. BroadwayWorld had a chance to discuss the ballet with Maestro Jeffrey Eckstein who will be conducting the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

This evening of dance will illustrate Natalia Makarova's contribution to the art of ballet by presenting some of her most iconic roles performed by today's leading dancers. Performers include Marcelo Gomes (American Ballet Theatre), Natalia Osipova (American Ballet Theatre/Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg), Sergei Polunin (formally of The Royal Ballet), Tamara Rojo (The Royal Ballet), Yuan Yuan Tan (San Francisco Ballet), Ivan Vasiliev (American Ballet Theatre/Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg) and Diana Vishneva (American Ballet Theatre/Mariinsky Ballet). Ms. Makarova will narrate the program, reflecting on her experiences as a dancer. In addition, rare photos and archival footage will be shared.
