Le Poisson Rouge celebrates its fifth anniversary June 7-16 with LPR X 5, a series of specially curated concerts that exemplify the venue's commitment to diverse musical programming. LPR has grown and evolved over the last five years, while staying true to the philosophy that inspired co-founders Justin Kantor and David Handler to open the venue. LPR is dedicated 'to the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, dance, literature, and visual art. The venue's mission is to revive the symbiotic relationship between art and revelry, to establish a creative asylum for both artists and audiences.' (more...)

Strand Theater Company presents a Baltimore Premiere of You Probably Think This Play Is About You by Maija DiGiorgio - a one-woman hilarious and meaningful exploration of love and life, artifice and theatrics, through the eyes of modernized Shakespearean characters. Closely related to Shakespeare's As You Like It, like Rosalind, Maija dons a variety of 'masks' in her effort to trick the man of her dreams into falling in love with her. Written by Maija DiGiorgio, Adam Greenbaum, and Tony Martinelli. Choreographed by Heather McConnell. Directed by Rain Pryor. The production will begin with a Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, March 21, will officially open the following night, and run through April 6. Tickets to the Dress Rehearsal are $5, Opening Night - $25, general admission $20, Seniors (over 65) - $15, Students (with ID) -$10. (more...)

The Acting Company will present a benefit staged reading of Stage Door by Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman at 7 pm on Monday, March 18 at the Ailey Studios Joan Weill Center for Dance, 405 West 55th Street (Ninth Avenue). The performance, starring Kristine Nielsen (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Merwin Goldsmith (Grand Hotel, Me and My Gal), Heidi Armbruster (Disgraced, Time Stands Still), Zoe Winters (4,000 Miles, Gossip Girl) will be followed by a reception with the cast and director, Irene Lewis, former Artistic Director of Baltimore's Centerstage. A dozen Acting Company Alumni Members-Beth Bartley, Kaliswa Brewster, Georgia Cohen, Susan Finch, Adam Green, Julie Jesneck, Jonathan Kaplan (Tony nom. Manhattan Landmark SideWalk Cafe Kicks of 20th Anniversary Celebration 2/19

To mark 20 years of live music at Manhattan's SideWalk Cafe, the East Village landmark will present SideWalk LIVE, 20th Anniversary, a year-long celebration of special initiatives. Known worldwide as an incubator of dynamic new performers, the SideWalk will kick off the festivities with the Winter 2013 edition of the biannual Antifolk Festival, Feb. 19 to 28. SideWalk LIVE, 20th Anniversary will include a series of panel discussions by SideWalk artists, record releases, an online photographic retrospective, anniversary oriented food and beverage offerings, the introduction of new musical programming, performances by notable SideWalk alumni and the Summer Antifolk Festival.
