Everyman Theatre Closes Season With THE BEAUX' STRATAGRM by BWW News Desk - May 20, 2013
Everyman Theatre closes its historic 2012/13 season with a staging of the rarely produced comedic gem, The Beaux' Stratagem. Founding Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi directs the production, which features a large cast of 15 actors and includes Resident Company Members Megan Anderson, Clinton Brandhagen and Bruce Randolph Nelson. Everyman moved into its brand new theatre in January of this year. The production will run from June 5th through June 30th. (more...)

Founded in 1984, The Pearl Theatre Company, New York's only classical Resident Acting Company, began as a small troupe of artists in Chelsea and is now a celebrated Off-Broadway institution with its own permanent home on West 42nd Street. The Pearl's 30th anniversary season will showcase the Company's talents in productions of classic plays that are especially suited to the ensemble's skills—including a world premiere written especially for them. Civic Theatre of Allentown to Host TONYS & TAPAS Benefit, 6/9 by BWW News Desk - May 17, 2013
On Sunday, June 9, the same day as the nationally televised Tony Awards Ceremony, Civic Theatre of Allentown will present its 3rd annual Tonys & Tapas Benefit to raise money for the theatre. Guests will enjoy vocal performances from recent productions, as well as appetizer samplings from some of the Valley's finest restaurants and caterers. There will also be a silent auction, open wine bar, and signature cocktails. The festivities will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 4 - 6:30 PM at the Nineteenth Street Theatre. (more...)

The Guthrie today announced that eight artists who have graced the Guthrie's stages during its 50-year history, from the first season in 1963 to the theater's current season, are slated to participate in the Guthrie's 50th anniversary on June 22, 2013. Exclusive interviews with the legendary Zoe Caldwell and Christopher Plummer will be unveiled as part of a poignant and celebratory multi-media tribute, while stage veterans Barbara Bryne, Peter Michael Goetz and Stephen Yoakam; two graduates of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program, Matthew Amendt and Valeri Mudek; and an alum of A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training, Erik Heger; will perform live for the one-night-only event. (more...)

The Children's Acting Company of New York will present its production of 'Bye Bye Birdie,' the Broadway musical hit with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by lee Adams and book by Michael Stewart, for four performances at the leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater at Symphony Space, ss' Street and Broadway in Manhattan, from May 17 -19,2013. The Acting Company Announces Upcoming Season by BWW News Desk - May 13, 2013
"John Rando (Urinetown, A Christmas Story, Lincoln Centers's Carousel, All in the Timing) will direct Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for The Acting Company," announced its producer, Margot Harley. Tom Stoppard's TONY-winning play will run off-Broadway in rotating repertory with Hamlet, directed by Ian Belknap,beginning in January 2014. Prior to New York, Hamlet will play a fall tour of western states beginning at Cal State-Northridge. A national tour of both plays, including an extended stay at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, begins in February. This is the 41st season and tour for The Acting Company, the sixth tour in association with the Guthrie. (more...)

Sundance Institute today announced the seven projects selected to participate in the 2013 Theatre Lab, July 8-28 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director, and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Theatre Lab is the centerpiece of the Sundance Institute's Theatre Program's year-round work and is designed to support emerging and established artists and to create a place where their original work can be effectively mentored and challenged. Civic Theatre of Allentown's MOMMALOGUES Receives NYC Premiere at Marvell Rep by BWW News Desk - May 06, 2013
MOMMALOGUES, a play written by Lehigh Valley playwrights Sharon Lee Glassman and Gretchen Klinedinst-Furst, which had its world premiere at Civic Theatre of Allentown in May 2012, will make a move to New York City later this month for six performances beginning May 22 through June 2. The show, which is a collection of emotionally charged monologues honoring mothers and the unique and astonishing bond they share with their daughters, will have its New York premiere at The Barrow Group Mainstage Theatre, 312 W 36th Street in Manhattan as part of the season of the non-profit Marvell Repertory Theatre.
