The Joyce Theater announced today the programming for its 2013 Spring/Summer Season featuring extraordinary international companies, including two festivals, one focusing on Nordic dance and the other on American ballet choreographers.

The Town Hall, New York City's landmark theatre and concert venue (123 West 43rd Street) honors two influential individuals: Dr. Charlotte K Frank, Senior Vice President of McGraw Hill and Chair of the Town Hall Arts and Education Committee, and Marvin Leffler, in recognition of 34 years as President of The Town Hall. They will receive The Town Hall's 'Friend of the Arts' Award tonight, October 21st, 2012.

NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, along with Gotham Arts Exchange, presents a special encore performance of Monica Bill Barnes & Company with Ira Glass tonight, October 20, 2012 at 8pm at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 LaGuardia Place (at Washington Square South), NYC. The 2012-2013 Concerts from the Library of Congress season offers a packed lineup of 40 concerts, lectures, film screenings, master classes and workshops, all celebrating the rich tapestry of the nation's musical heritage. FOCUS DANCE is a part of FOCUS 2013, the National Platform to promote American dance both abroad and nationally. The week-long platform presents performances of U.S.-based dance companies during the annual Arts Presenters Conference in New York City, and one of the largest gatherings of artists, dancers and dance professionals in the U.S. From January 8-14, 2013, four venues partner with Gotham Arts Exchange to present the artistic visions of five curators gathered to shape this year's edition:

British playwright Alan Ayckbourn's amusing 1972 comedy ABSURD PERSON SINGULAR--which celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year--is currently eliciting chuckles through October 7 at South Coat Repertory in Costa Mesa. Though very much a product of its era, the three-act play directed by SCR co-founding Artistic Director David Emmes still succeeds in mining genuine laughs thanks to its mixed bag of sharp one-liners, humorous (if clichéd) visual gags, and a stupendously gifted cast.

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2011-2012 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons and theatre industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. The spacious lobby allowed guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'ouevres and the chance to congratulate their colleagues. Guest announcers, Atlanta's own funny men Bryan Brendle, Bart Hansard, Tony Larkin, Aurora Theatre artistic director Tony Rodriguez and Scott Warren shared the list of nominees while playfully riffing on the 2011/2012 Atlanta theatre season.

Signature Theatre presents the New York premiere of THE TRAIN DRIVER, written and directed by Athol Fugard. THE TRAIN DRIVER is the final production in the Residency One: Athol Fugard Series. The production runs through September 23, 2012, and opened last night, September 9 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).
