TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with the Regional Premiere of Velina Hasu Houston's international comic drama, Calligraphy. Two continents, two cultures, two estranged sisters, and two cousins determined to bridge the gap between them, are all boldly calligraphed in this free-wheeling work set in Los Angeles and Tokyo, past and present. East and West collide as Japanese free-spirit Sayuri and biracial American Hiromi care for their feuding mothers, whom they gamely hope to reunite before it is too late. Directed by TheatreWorks Associate Artistic Director Leslie Martinson, Calligraphy will be presented by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley March 8-April 2 at Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Veteran and award-winning stage actor, play director and theatre producer Darryl Maximilian Robinson, the Founder of the award-winning, multiracial, professional classical and contemporary chamber theatre, The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago, and who will be appearing Oct. 14th through the 16th as the great Broadway impresario extraordinaire Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr.. in new Conundrum Theatre Company revival production of FUNNY GIRL at The Historic Rialto Theatre, will discuss his life and times in his new home of L A and his 42-year-long non-Equity professional stage career and involvement in the live performing arts at 11:30 am Monday September 19th 2016 as a guest on "THE ACTOR'S CHOICE" an internet informational arts program hosted by noted entertainment and performing arts journalist Ron Brewington.

DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON, who is set to appear as the great Broadway impresario extraordinaire FLORENZ ZIEGFELD, JR. Oct. 14 th -16 th of 2016 in the new CONUNDRUM THEATRE COMPANY revival production of FUNNY GIRL at THE HISTORIC RIALTO THEATRE in South Pasadena, is among the nominees for Best Actor for THE 2015 / 2016 ELATE SEASON TICKET HOLDER AWARDS. Mr. Robinson has been nominated for his performance as the debonair, but aging, leading man Ernest in Tad Mosel's classic one-act allegorical comedy- drama of life in The Theatre, IMPROMPTU, which was a part of THE EMMANUEL LUTHERAN ACTORS THEATRE ENSEMBLE - ELATE evening of four one-acts JUST 4 FUN presented at THE LINCOLN STEGMAN THEATRE in North Hollywood. In addition to Mr. Robinson, his fellow IMPROMPTU cast members: CASEY KRUBINER as Winnifred, JOEY TREZISE as Tony and LUCY KRUBINER as Lora, have all received Best Supporting Performance Award nominations for their fine work in Mosel's play. TAD MOSEL is best known as the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama ALL THE WAY HOME.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Letters to Zoey, a play with music, written and performed by Garrett Buhl Robinson, uses lyrical letters and foot stomping songs, as Garrett Buhl Robinson portrays a young man on a desperate search for liberation and love. This one-man musical was a highlight in last season's MITF and returns for another engagement. Mr. Robinson has been the subject of numerous articles, interviews and an indie video-documentary. After moving to New York City from San Francisco in 2011, he has been marketing his novels and poetry in the streets of Manhattan. Practically every day, in all types of weather, he can be found singing in the streets. After adapting his second novel for the stage in 2014, he has performed the show for audiences in the city parks, at homes and in art galleries. In 2015, he made his Off-Broadway debut performing the musical at Theatre Row. Now the producers are knocking at his door. The public loves his play with music - Letters to Zoey!

Founder and Artistic Director of The Black Iris Project, Jeremy McQueen is an award-winning emerging choreographer. A 2013 recipient of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago's Choreographers of Color Award and two-time finalist of the Capezio Award for Choreographic Excellence, McQueen's work has appeared at Jacob's Pillow Dance's Inside/Out series (in 2012 & 2013), Dancers Responding to AIDS' Fire Island Dance Festival, the Young Choreographer's Festival, and more. McQueen has appeared in the Broadway National Tours of 'Wicked' and 'The Color Purple', in addition to the Metropolitan Opera's productions of 'Die Fledermaus', 'Aida', 'Les Contes d'Hoffmann', and 'Don Giovanni'. McQueen currently teaches ballet for ABT's and Ailey's educational outreach programs. A graduate of The Ailey School/Fordham University B.F.A Program, he's trained as a scholarship recipient with American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, and Alonzo King's LINES Ballet.
