Op 3 december a.s. gaat de musical “Het Ontzet van Coevorden” in première, met in de hoofdrollen René van Kooten, Raymond Kurvers en Robin van den Heuvel. Verder een cast van zo’n twintig lokale en regionale acteurs in een voorstelling die is geschreven door Dick van den Heuvel, en gecomponeerd door Fons Merkies en Jeroen Sleyfer. Het is niet alleen het verhaal van driehonderdvijftig jaar geleden toen Coevorden werd ingenomen door een gruwelijke bezetter uit het Oosten. Het zijn vooral de geschiedenissen van mensen die ineens worden geconfronteerd met overheersing, geweld en oorlog.

Vandaag is de cast van De Schippers van de Kameleon: Met de Muziek mee aan hun eerste repetitiedag begonnen. In het Amsterdamse Polanentheater kwamen Alfred van den Heuvel, Calvin Kromheer, David van den Tempel, Sofia Ferri, Sterre Schaasberg en Joris Braster samen om voor het eerst samen te repeteren. Traditiegetrouw is dit gevierd met het aansnijden van een speciale taart.

Young performers from the casts of Billy Elliot the Musical, Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Warhorse and several past Broadway productions will sell homemade goodies at the 5th annual Broadway Kids Care Bake Sale the afternoon of November 5 in Fireman's Park (48th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The event will benefit local children who reside in NYC Shelters at the Freedom House and Secret Garden.
