Graham Nash

BIO

Graham Nash co-founded the rock group The Hollies in the early 1960s with Allan Clarke. He sang on hits including “Just One Look” (1964), “On a Carousel” (1967), and “Carrie Anne” (1967), and co-wrote material with Clarke and Tony Hicks. In 1965, the trio formed the publishing company Gralto Music Ltd. Nash also wrote songs including “Fifi the Flea” (1966), “Clown” (1966), and “Everything Is Sunshine” (1967).

In 1968, Nash left The Hollies to form Crosby, Stills & Nash with David Crosby and Stephen Stills. Neil Young joined the group in 1969, creating Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. With the group, Nash wrote and performed songs including “Marrakesh Express,” “Our House,” “Teach Your Children,” “Just a Song Before I Go,” and “Wasted on the Way.” During the 1970s, he also released politically themed songs including “Military Madness” and “Chicago / We Can Change the World.”

Nash launched his solo career with the album Songs for Beginners in 1971, followed by Wild Tales in 1974. In 1972, he formed the duo Crosby & Nash with David Crosby, releasing multiple studio and live albums. Their best-known hit was “Immigration Man.” In 1979, Nash co-founded Musicians United for Safe Energy and participated in the No Nukes concerts and related projects.

Nash reunited with The Hollies in 1983 to record the albums What Goes Around... and Reunion. In 1993, he recorded a new version of “Peggy Sue Got Married” with the group for the tribute album Not Fade Away. He later collaborated with A-ha on the 2005 album Analogue and worked with David Gilmour and David Crosby on Gilmour’s 2006 album On an Island and subsequent tour.

In 2010, Nash was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Hollies, marking his second induction after Crosby, Stills & Nash. In 2011, he contributed “Raining in My Heart” to the tribute album Rave on Buddy Holly. He released the solo album This Path Tonight in 2016 and toured internationally in support of the record. In 2018, Rhino Records released the retrospective box set Over The Years, featuring demos and recordings from 1968 to 1980. In 2025, Nash reunited with Stephen Stills for a performance at the Fire Aid benefit concert in Los Angeles.

Outside of music, Nash developed a photography career beginning in the 1970s, assembling the Graham Nash Collection, which toured internationally from 1978 to 1984. In 1991, he co-founded Nash Editions, a digital fine art printing company that became influential in the development of high-quality digital printmaking. In 2010, 21st Editions published the photography monograph Love, Graham Nash.
