BIO

Amy Sedaris began her comedy career performing with Second City’s touring company in the late 1980s. She left in 1993 and moved to New York City. Her television breakthrough came with the Comedy Central sketch series Exit 57 (1995–1996), which she co-created and starred in. She gained wider recognition starring as Jerri Blank in the Comedy Central series Strangers with Candy (1999–2000), which she co-wrote with Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert. She reprised the role in the film prequel Strangers with Candy (2005).


Sedaris appeared in numerous television series, including Just Shoot Me! (2001), Sex and the City (2002–2003), Monk (2002–2003), My Name Is Earl (2006), Rescue Me (2007), The Closer (2009), Raising Hope (2011–2014), and The Good Wife (2012). She had recurring roles in Alpha House (2013–2014), Broad City (2014–2019), Difficult People (2015–2017), and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015–2020). She starred in and created the TruTV comedy series At Home with Amy Sedaris (2017–2020) and appeared in No Activity (2017–2019) and Divorce (2018).

Her film credits include Maid in Manhattan (2002), School of Rock (2003), Elf (2003), Bewitched (2005), Full Grown Men (2006), Snow Angels (2007), Jennifer’s Body (2009), Chef (2014), Ghost Team (2016), Handsome (2017), Save Yourselves! (2020), and Clerks III (2022). She also starred in The Best and the Brightest (2010) and appeared in Old Dogs (2009).

Sedaris has had an extensive voice acting career. She voiced Princess Carolyn in the Netflix series BoJack Horseman (2014–2020) and appeared in animated series including American Dad! (2009–2012), SpongeBob SquarePants (2011–2019), Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2016–2019), Steven Universe (2017), and F Is for Family (2020). Her film voice roles include Chicken Little (2005), Shrek the Third (2007), Space Buddies (2009), Puss in Boots (2011), Super Buddies (2013), My Life as a Courgette (2016), and The Lion King (2019). She also voiced roles in the podcast Homecoming (2016–2017) and Christmasuzannukkah (2022).

As a writer, Sedaris co-authored Wigfield (2003) with Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert, released the book I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence (2006), and published Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People! (2010). Her theater credits include co-writing and performing in plays such as Stump the Host (1993), Stitches (1994), One Woman Shoe (1995), The Book of Liz (2002), and stage productions including The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told (1998), The Country Club (1998), and Wonder of the World (2001).
