Midtown Direct Rep (MDR), SOPAC, co-directors/producers Deborah Goldstein (Publisher, Village Q), Brooke Lefferts (Writer, Associated Press, NBC Today), Sandy Rustin (Playwright, Rated P ... for Parenthood, The Cottage, Struck) are will present Listen To Your Mother: North Jersey this Saturday, May 7, 2016. This 3rd Annual North Jersey production will have performances at 5pm (Mainstage) and 7:30pm (Loft Theater) at The South Orange Performing Arts Center (One SOPAC Way, South Orange, NJ, 07079). Open auditions were held in late January, and 13 writers were selected to join the movement of 'giving motherhood a microphone.' The 2016 cast will feature some of North Jersey's most talented writers and bloggers including: Lois Gallt Accardi, Ralph Buchalter, Moira Deziel, Laura Epstein, Brie Latini, Pam Lobley, Allyson Murphy, Doreen Oliver, Pat Ostrander, Joy Peskin, Otise Schuk, Carrie Schwartz, and Elizabeth Trundle. "Charlie Pollock & Friends" will bring down the Columbia High School Auditorium house at 7:30pm on MONDAY DECEMBER 14th, raising money for the Achieve Foundation's 'Vanessa Pollock Music Initiative'. The VP Music Initiative was founded to help repair/add instruments for the entire SOMSD, provide scholarships to in-need students for the rental of their band/orchestra instrument, and to provide private music instruction and instruments to in-need prodigious students.

The production will be May 9th at 2:00 and 5:00 PM at The South Orange Performing Arts Center (One SOPAC Way, South Orange, NJ, 07079). Statewide open auditions were held in early March and 13 writers have been selected to join the movement of 'giving motherhood a microphone.' ELMER GANTRY is a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic DirectorEric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. Signature Theatre's presentation will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre now through November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006.
