Sam Viverito is an internationally known director/choreographer, whose work can be seen in such diverse places as, Seoul, S. Korea, Brighton, England, Bali, Indonesia, Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico, Dubai, Guam, South Africa and Bangkok, as well as the USA.
He began his professional career in Michael Bennett’s A CHORUS LINE performing the role of “Paul” while holding the position of Dance Captain at the same time. Four weeks after leaving the show, Rita Moreno saw him performing on the Emmy Awards and hired him for her night club act, which he toured with for 2 years. It was while touring with Hal Prince’s, EVITA, again performing and Dance Captaining that he decided to hang up his performing shoes and “get on the other side of the table.”
Three days after leaving the tour, he was choreographing an MTV video for KC, of KC and the Sunshine band. The video went to #1 in Asia and Australia, but never once played in America.
Sam soon discovered the world of “Industrial” or “Corporate” theater. He was hired on the spot for his first job, after presenting a piece of choreography to the producer and director. Ironically, it was on the same day as the longest running, record breaking Gala for A CHORUS LINE. Working with companies such as McDonald’s, IBM, Pepsi, Novartis and Chevrolet, he learned how to not only work with big budget shows but also be comfortable working with celebrities. Some of his favorites are Betty White, Lou Gosset Jr., Chita Rivera, Liza Minnelli, Kate Mulgrew, to drop a few names.
Juggling both the “legitimate” and “corporate” theater has given Sam a long and successful career. He prides himself on creating a safe, comfortable working environment and that he has been hired back multiple times, by producers.
