Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman began her professional acting career with Luc Besson's Léon: The Professional in 1994, playing Mathilda, an orphaned child who befriends a hitman. That year, she also appeared in Marya Cohn's short film Developing and performed as Anne Shirley in a production of Anne of Green Gables at Stagedoor Manor. In 1995, she appeared in Heat. In 1996, she starred in Beautiful Girls and had brief roles in Everyone Says I Love You and Mars Attacks!. She also appeared in a production of Cabaret at Stagedoor Manor.

In 1997, Portman began starring as Anne Frank in a Broadway revival of The Diary of Anne Frank at the Music Box Theatre, which ran through 1998. She also began filming Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in 1997, playing Padmé Amidala. The film was released in 1999. That year, she starred in Anywhere but Here, earning a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

In 2000, Portman starred in Where the Heart Is. In 2001, she returned to Broadway in The Seagull at the Delacorte Theater and appeared in Zoolander. She reprised her role as Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones in 2002. In 2003, she appeared in Cold Mountain.

In 2004, Portman appeared in Garden State and starred in Closer, earning the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award nomination in the same category. She reprised her role as Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith in 2005. That year, she also appeared in Free Zone and starred as Evey Hammond in V for Vendetta, earning the Saturn Award for Best Actress. In 2006, she appeared in Paris, je t'aime and starred in Goya's Ghosts. She also hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2006.

In 2007, Portman starred in My Blueberry Nights and appeared in the short film Hotel Chevalier and The Darjeeling Limited. She also starred in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. In 2008, she starred in The Other Boleyn Girl, served as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival and made her directorial debut with the short film Eve. In 2009, she starred in The Other Woman and Brothers, appeared in the short film Greed and directed and starred in a segment of New York, I Love You.

In 2010, Portman produced and starred in Hesher and starred as a ballerina in Black Swan, earning the Academy Award for Best Actress. In 2011, she served as executive producer and starred in No Strings Attached, starred in Your Highness and played Jane Foster in Thor. In 2012, she appeared in Paul McCartney's music video for "My Valentine." In 2013, she reprised her role as Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World.

In 2015, Portman appeared in Knight of Cups, directed and starred in A Tale of Love and Darkness, and produced and starred in Jane Got a Gun. A Tale of Love and Darkness marked her feature directorial debut, and she also co-wrote the film.

In 2016, Portman portrayed Jacqueline Kennedy in Jackie, earning the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She also produced Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and starred in Planetarium. In 2017, she appeared in Song to Song.

In 2018, Portman starred in Annihilation, The Death & Life of John F. Donovan and Vox Lux. In 2019, she made a brief appearance as Jane Foster in Avengers: Endgame and starred in Lucy in the Sky. In 2020, she narrated the Disney+ nature documentary Dolphin Reef and voiced Jane Foster in the animated series What If...?. In 2022, she reprised the role of Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder, in which the character becomes Mighty Thor.

Portman and producing partner Sophie Mas founded the production company MountainA in 2021 and signed a first-look television deal with Apple TV+. The company's first project was May December, released in 2023, which Portman also starred in. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance. MountainA also produced the HBO documentary series Angel City in 2023.

In 2024, Portman starred in Lady in the Lake, an Apple TV+ miniseries produced by MountainA. She most recently starred in Fountain of Youth, directed by Guy Ritchie, and Cathy Yan's thriller The Gallerist.
