Matthew Lombardo is a New York-based playwright whose work has been critically acclaimed and has earned him international recognition.
Mr. Lombardo’s Broadway credits include High starring Kathleen Turner at the Booth Theatre, and Looped which featured Valerie Harper as Tallulah Bankhead in a Tony-nominated performance at The Lyceum Theatre.
Off-Broadway he has penned Who's Holiday, the irreverent comedy showcasing the talent of Lesli Margherita as an adult Cindy Lou Who at the Westside Theatre (Lucille Award Nomination for Outstanding Solo Show); Tea At Five which starred Kate Mulgrew as Katharine Hepburn at the Promenade Theatre (IRNE Award winner for Best Solo Play); Mother and Child featuring Tony Award-winning actress Ann Wedgeworth at Second Stage; and Guilty Innocence at The Actors’ Playhouse.
His plays have received three National Tours including High, again with Ms. Turner; Looped, which starred Stefanie Powers; and Tea at Five which featured the talents of Faye Dunaway, Stephanie Zimbalist and Tovah Feldshuh.
Regionally, his work has been performed at Hartford Stage, American Repertory Theatre, Seattle Rep, Arena Stage, Pasadena Playhouse, Huntington Theatre Company, Cleveland Playhouse, Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and others.
Internationally, his plays have been translated into several languages and have been performed all over the world.
