BIO
Katy Secombe played Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables in multiple productions, first taking on the role in 2012 opposite Matt Lucas, reprising it in 2015 as part of the 30th anniversary cast, and continuing in the role at the Queen’s Theatre until June 2018. She also appeared in Les Misérables again in a West End revival (2021) as Madame Thénardier and in the staged concert revival (2021) in the same role. Earlier in her career, she was part of the original London production of Les Misérables (1985) as a replacement Madame Thénardier.
Her additional West End credits include I Can’t Sing! The X Factor Musical (2014) as Brenda, and Guys and Dolls at the National Theatre (1996) in the roles of Martha and Hot Box Girl. She later appeared in Guys and Dolls in the immersive/standing production in the West End (2023), playing General Cartwright and Good Time Charley Bernstein (replacement), as well as a replacement in the same production that year.
Secombe’s other theatre work includes Oliver! in the West End (2025) as Widow Corney, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at Rose Theatre Kingston, Hay Fever at Rose Theatre Kingston, The Lyons at the Menier Chocolate Factory, and Chicago on the Live Nation tour. She has also appeared in Twelfth Night, A Winter’s Tale, and Mother Clap’s Molly House at the National Theatre, as well as Pickwick and The Music Man for Chichester Festival Theatre.
