The Music Academy, formerly known as the Music Academy of the West, and now in its 76th season, celebrates the “Summer of the Artist” with eight weeks of live events at its picturesque Miraflores campus and throughout scenic Santa Barbara, California (June 12–Aug 5). The Music Academy has revealed its ambitious plans for the 75th Anniversary Summer Festival. This milestone year has been propelled by three sold-out concerts by the London Symphony Orchestra in March and three Competition Winners recitals in April.

The Broad Stage presents Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, who has quickly emerged as one of the most vibrant performers on the international classical music scene, triumphing on stage, in concert and on recording.  He makes his Los Angeles and Broad Stage debut on March 10, 2022, at 7:30pm on the Main Stage with an eclectic program of baroque, romantic and 20th century songs.

Aptly taking its theme as innovation, MARLIa??s pioneering six-week program offered a career-building curriculum for the 21st-century musician, combining teaching and mentorship from the Academya??s outstanding faculty artists with musical, technological and entrepreneurial challenges and a diverse array of artistic and educational video content.

Principal Bassoonist Judith LeClair of the New York Philharmonic posted a performance from home, alongside her husband, Jonathan Feldman, on piano.

On Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m., beloved Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel returns to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage for a recital featuring works by Ireland, Quilter, Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, selections from Vaughan Williams's Songs of Travel as well as additional selections to be announced from the stage. The Music Academy of the West will present the world-renowned New York Philharmonic in its first-ever performance at the historic Santa Barbara Bowl as well as a new production of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera Cinderella as part of the Academy's 68th annual Summer Festival. The Music Academy will present some 200 events, including more than 80 that are free, over the course of its coming season, which begins June 15 and concludes August 8. Additional highlights will include performances by pianists Jeremy Denk and Leon Fleisher, the Takács and JACK quartets, cellist Alban Gerhardt, and tenor Anthony Dean Griffey, as well as orchestra concerts led by Christoph von Dohnányi, Courtney Lewis, Nicholas McGegan, Larry Rachleff, and Osmo Vänskä. Throughout its 2015 Summer Festival, the Academy will highlight the music of living composers, including Carter Pann, Mason Bates, Kalevi Aho, Pierre Jalbert, Steve Reich, Thomas Adès, Caroline Shaw, and Pierre Boulez. Featuring the Academy's exceptionally talented fellows, together with distinguished guest performers and faculty, the events will be presented at the Academy's scenic Miraflores campus and in venues throughout Santa Barbara. Subscription sales have begun; individual tickets will go on sale Saturday, April 25.

Spike TV is teaming up with Pierce Brosnan's Irish DreamTime, Mark Sennet Entertainment, Michael Finch and Academy Award(R)-winning writer David Franzoni to develop a script for an event series based on the one of the seminal events in world history, the Crusades.

Canadian jazz pianist Jonathan Feldman had an epiphany. Raised on a steady diet of Miles Davis and his former bandmates' records like Chick Corea's “Light as a Feather”, Feldman hadn't really explored the music of his family's Jewish faith. Growing up Jewish in Hamilton, ON and attending a Jewish elementary school and summer camp exposed him to some Israeli folk music and the liturgical music of the synagogue, but aside from the avant-garde offerings of clarinetist Ben Goldberg, he never checked out much klezmer music, sometimes called “Jewish Jazz”.

The Music Academy of the West will inaugurate an unprecedented partnership with the world-renowned New York Philharmonic and present a new production of Georges Bizet's popular opera Carmen in honor of Marilyn Horne's 80th birthday as part of the Academy's 67th annual Summer Festival. The Music Academy will present some 200 events over the course of its coming season, which begins June 16 and concludes August 9.

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of musicians from the Orchestra, will give its last performance of the 2013-14 season on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall with a concert featuring Bartok's 44 Duos for 2 Violins, Nos. 26-44; Fanny Mendelssohn's String Quartet; and Vaughan Williams's Piano Quintet. The musicians on the program will be Associate Principal, Second Violin Group Lisa Kim, Hyunju Lee, Anna Rabinova, and Sharon Yamada; Assistant Principal Viola Irene Breslaw; cellists Eric Bartlett and Alexei Yupanqui Gonzales; Acting Principal Bass Satoshi Okamoto; and guest pianist Jonathan Feldman.

CUSP by Neiman Marcus announced the launch of 'Make Some Noise,' campaign that celebrates the most fearless, bold and fashionable women transforming the pop culture, fashion and music landscapes today. 'Make Some Noise' will kick off in Austin, Texas during SXSW with 'Cusp on Rainey Featuring Music by Atlantic Records.' The three-day experience from March 12 th through 14 th will feature panel discussions and fireside chats with influential women who rock in their respective fields, along with performances from Atlantic artists.

Carnegie Hall today announced that pianist Natalia Katyukova has graciously agreed to step in for Malcolm Martineau, playing a full-length song recital with sopranos Joelle Harvey, Emalie Savoy, tenor Paul Appleby, and baritone John Brancy, as part of its Discovery Day: Benjamin Britten event on Saturday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Weill Recital Hall. Mr. Martineau has been forced to cancel his appearance due to an ear infection which prevents him from traveling.
