Hays Street Hart's new album 'Bridges' is now available via Smoke Sessions Records. Featuring Kevin Hays, Ben Street, and Billy Hart. Hays Street Hart, the trio of pianist Kevin Hays, bassist Ben Street, and legendary drummer Billy Hart, recorded their acclaimed 2021 debut, All Things Are, under less than optimal conditions.

The album began its life as a performance in honor of Hart’s 80th birthday in December 2020, live streamed from an empty Smoke Jazz Club in the final weeks of that grueling pandemic year. Despite those adversities, the music they created that night was spectacular enough to convince all involved that it should be released.

Highlights in Jazz returns to BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center for a festive 50th anniversary concert on Feb. 23, 2023. Jack Kleinsinger, the founder and producer of the highly regarded landmark jazz series, has put together an exciting, generation-crossing all-star concert lineup to mark the occasion. 

The band – Yannis Philippakis, Jack Bevan and Jimmy Smith – are currently on their North American tour (full information and dates below) which adds to their recent high profile live moments that have included ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ (watch here), and a UK headline tour that saw them play to a combined audience of 40,000 people in London alone.

​​​​​​​In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, Metro Art Presents and KJAZZ reunite for 'Jazz Tracks at Union Station,' a one-day series of performances at the historic downtown destination, Sunday, April 24, from 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm.

It’s a song which evolved organically, having originated as a demo by guitarist Jimmy Smith that had more of a mid-paced Prince vibe. When Yannis, Jimmy and drummer Jack Bevan reunited post-lockdown, its energy was amplified by the trio’s enthusiasm for once again being able to perform together live in the same room.

The series will launch with acclaimed guitarist Russell Malone on Wednesday, April 6, with additional artists to be announced. Tickets are $45, which includes a $15 food and beverage credit. CHELSEA TABLE + STAGE is located at 152 West 26th Street.

“2am” is the second track to preview the album following “Wake Me Up”. “2am” was produced by John Hill (Portugal The Man, Florence + The Machine, Cage The Elephant ) and Dan Carey (Tame Impala, Fontaines D.C.), and recorded during sessions at Real World Studios, Bath and Carey’s studio in south London.
