Tchaikovsky's classic The Nutcracker isn't just a holiday tradition for the Philadelphia Ballet, but a chance to show off the depth the company has from the staging by Artistic Director Angel Corella all the way to the intricate and elaborate costume designs of Judanna Lynn. Pennsylvania Ballet Promotes Ten Dancers For The 2018-2019 Season
Pennsylvania Ballet has announced the promotion of 10 dancers for the 2018-2019 season. Corps de Ballet members Aleksey Babayev, Albert Gordon, Yuka Iseda, Zecheng Liang, Nayara Lopes, and Jack Thomas have been promoted to Soloists. Apprentices Sydney Dolan, Federico D'Ortenzi, and Erin O'Dea have been promoted to Corps de Ballet. From Pennsylvania Ballet II, Flavia Morante joins the Company as an Apprentice.

Author and performance artist Cynthia Waring will teach two six-week courses on memoir writing beginning February 27. Titled "The Power and Healing of Writing Your Memoirs," the two-hour classes will take place at 7 pm Mondays and 3 pm Wednesdays (beginning March 1) at the Family Therapy Institute of Santa Barbara, 111 E. Arrellaga Street. The courses cost $240 and space is limited. To register, call (805) 798-2930.
