Connecticut women attend Voices Festival in DC; Playwright Initiative at Ivoryton; International Women's Day Readings at Westport

Westport Country Playhouse will host the second annual 'Letters to Our Daughters,' a free-of-charge event to celebrate International Women's Day, on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. A diverse group of 13 women, including Tony Award winners Joanna Gleason and Judith Ivey, and 'This Is Us' series regular Susan Kelechi Watson, will read essays and poems written by female authors on global women's issues.

InProximity Theatre Company today announced full casting for the first annual Project W Theatre Festival, a multi-day free play reading event June 6 - 10, 2017 featuring new plays written, directed and produced by women. Cherry Lane Theatre's Studio, located at 38 Commerce Street, will serve as the exclusive venue for all readings.

Florida Studio Theatre will open the absorbing new play, In the Book Of, by John Walch tonight, March 29, 2013 at 8:00pm in the Gompertz Theatre. Theatre 167 will present the Manhattan Premiere of THE JACKSON HEIGHTS TRILOGY, a rotating repertory of three plays about the Queens, New York neighborhood famous for being the world's most diverse community. Created by 18 playwrights and starring a company of 37 actors playing 93 multicultural roles, the plays were conceived and will be directed by Ari Laura Kreith. The trilogy will inaugurate the newly renovated 777 Theatre, located at 777 8th Avenue at 47th Street beginning February 8th. While each of the plays has been presented individually in Queens to critical acclaim, this is the first time any of these plays will be seen in Manhattan and the first time they are being presented together in repertory, where audiences can see them individually or all in one day.

Veil'd A Fairytale will be performed in the Performance Space at Rathaus Hall M-11 at Queens College tonight, May 12th at 8:00 pm and Sunday, May 13th at 3pm. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations can be made by calling the Kupferberg Center Box Office at 718.793.8080.
