Join Broadway veteran Sara Jean Ford as she brings her hit BroadwayWorld web series “The Aging Ingénue” to the stage, with an raucously funny evening of music and storytelling. An Evening with The Aging Ingénue  is hosted by Sara’s fictional alter-ego Claire Cooke -- a Broadway starlette all grown up -- as she struggles to navigate her new reality as an aging actor & mother - all while singing songs that she is far too old to sing (and sharing secrets that she is far too comfortable revealing).

Based on P.L. Travers’ children’s novels as well as Walt Disney’s 1964 Academy Award-winning movie musical of the same name, Mary Poppins follows a nanny who arrives on the doorstep of Jane & Michael Banks. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Using a combination of magic and common sense, Mary Poppins must teach the family members how to value each other again.

From July 25th-30th, North Carolina Theatre will be presenting MARY POPPINS at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, which is located inside the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. I had the great pleasure of interviewing actress Sara Jean Ford, who will be taking on the role of Winifred Banks. Some of her previous Broadway credits include THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, FINIAN’S RAINBOW, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, and CATS.

The North Carolina Theatre announces that after six years at the helm, Elizabeth Doran will be leaving her position as President & CEO.  After dedicating herself for the last several years to leading the organization through the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ms. Doran resigned to the Board of Directors in January and will be pursuing other professional opportunities. 

The cast, ensemble, and creative team of The North Carolina Theatre's The Color Purple take us on a heart-wrenching yet joyful journey to a deeper understanding and celebration of life.
