DCPA Theatre Company Announces Playwrights For The 15th Annual Colorado New Play Summit
The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) Theatre Company is proud to announce playwrights, dates and details for the 2020 Colorado New Play Summit. The 15th annual festival will take place over two weekends, February 15-16, and February 21-23, and feature readings of new plays by Benjamin Benne, L M Feldman, Yussef El Guindi, Jessica Kahkoska, and co-writers Suzan Shown Harjo and Mary Kathryn Nagle. The festival will also feature world premiere productions from the 2019 Colorado New Play Summit by Tony Meneses and Bonnie Metzgar.
Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards Announce Second Round Of 2019 Recipients
Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, announces the recipients of the second round of the 2019 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $583,000, allow 15 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

The Theatre Company at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is proud to announce playwrights, dates and details for the 2019 Colorado New Play Summit. The 14th annual festival will take place over two weekends, 2/16-2/17 and 2/22-2/24, and feature readings of new plays by Beaufield Berry, Isaac Gomez, Bonnie Metzgar, Tony Meneses, and a new musical by Neyla Pekarek and Karen Hartman. The festival will also feature World Premiere productions by Donnetta Lavinia Grays and Itamar Moses.
Joe's Pub Names Alex Knowlton New Director
This September, Joe's Pub at The Public kicks off its 20th Anniversary year, celebrating two decades of presenting the best in live music and performance nightly with a commitment to diversity, production values, community, and artistic freedom. The fall season is comprised of Joe's Pub debuts like Max Vernon and The Tiger Lillies; familiar faces like Justin Vivian Bond, John Kelly, and Shaina Taub; and two New York Voices commissions: Refrigerated Dreams, a collaboration from Nona Hendryx and Carrie Mae Weems, and Murray Hill's About To Break, directed by Scott Wittman. There will also be a change in leadership at Joe's Pub - Alex Knowlton will become Director of Joe's Pub, as Shanta Thake will inaugurate a new role at The Public Theater as Senior Director of Artistic Programs.
Cal Rep presents POLAROID STORIES by Naomi Iizuka
Playwright Naomi Iizuka radically adapts and retells Ovid's ancient classic Metamorphoses, with homeless youth crafting stories both for their physical survival and for the transformation of their souls. In this contemporary collage of classical mythology and real-life stories of street kids, the play weaves a world where myth-making and storytelling are vital weapons for the characters to survive a system that erases and ignores them.

American Theater Company (ATC) announces complete casting for Season 33 productions: Janine Nabers' world premiere of Welcome to Jesus, directed by Artistic Director Will Davis, October 26-December 3, 2017; Basil Kreimendahl's Chicago premiere of We're Gonna Be Okay, January 25-March 4, 2018, directed by Davis; and Carlos Murillo's world premiere of Diagram of a Paper Airplane, May 3-June 10, 2018, directed by Bonnie Metzgar.
The New Colony presents PUNK This Fall
The New Colony concludes its 2017 Season with the world premiere of Michael Allen Harris' prison drama PUNK, co-directed by Diana Raiselis and Katrina Dion, playing October 4 November 5, 2017 at The New Colony's resident home, The Den Theatre's Upstairs Main Stage, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Tickets go on sale Thursday, September 21, 2017 at www.thenewcolony.org. The press opening is Tuesday, October 10 at 7:30 pm.
