Bianca Marroquin BIO

Bianca was born in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico and raised in the border between Matamoros, Mexico and Brownsville, USA, where she studied some dance disciplines: ballet, jazz, falmenco and tap. She went back to Monterrey to study Communications. In 1997, she made the auditions successfully and became part of the Mexico City cast of Beauty and the Beast, so decided to move to Mexico City, and started her professional theatre carreer.

She was also part of another famous musical, Rent. From 1999 until 2001 she was Meg Giry u/s and Dance Captain, in The Phantom of the Opera also in Mexico. After this, came Chicago (Mexico) auditions, and after being selected among 800 candidates, and some weeks of rehearsals, Bianca went on stage to perform the main role, Roxie Hart. This role took her to Broadway, becoming the first mexican actress ever to get to Broadway with a leading role. She performed as Roxie Hart with George Hamilton as Billy Flyn, at the Shubert Thatre. This is when she did Roxie for her fist time in English. Bianca is the youngest Roxie Hart ever remembered on Broadway. She went back to Mexico City to close Chicago (Mexico) season and join The Vagina Monolgues Mexican cast.

She left this play when she received the invitation to give life once again, to Roxie Hart, but this time in the USA and Canada tour of Chicago the Musical, which gave her the chance to work with some American stars such as, Gregory Harrison, the Duke of Hazard Tom Wopat, the Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson, and Patrick Swayze. This tour made her the first mexican ever in receiving the Helen Hayes Award in Washington D.C., as outstanding Lead Actress. On December of 2003,Bianca went back to Broadway as Roxie Hart now at the Ambassador Theatre, to rejoin the tour after his Broadway season.

Bianca was part of the cast of "Pajama Game" with Harry Connick Jr.and Kelli O'Hara, produced by Roundabout Theatres (producers of Cabaret, Nine, etc.) This time Bianca was not a leading, her role was Carmen, and her first role she got directly in Broadway, Roxie Hart was her crossover from Mexico to Broadway. Originally in the 50s, Pajama Game was directed by Bob Fosse, this time was the succesful Kathleen Marshall (sister of Rob Marshall, director of the Cabaret production and the Chicago film) who directed this new production.

Bianca most recently appeared as Chita Rivera in the F/X limited series "Fosse/Verdon" (2019).
