Adán and Eva have certain "problems" in their marriage. They go to THE THERAPY with Dr. Appelstein who assures them that their marriage issues will disappear forever thanks to a new stream of inductive psychology therapy.

"LA TERAPIA" (a libidinous comedy) by Txemi Parra will be presented as part of Micro Theater New York on Mondays, March 6th and April 3rd, 2017 at Teatro SEA. It consists of four 20-minute plays running simultaneously in the same building. The audience gets to choose which from the 4 plays they will attend (LA TERAPIA has English translation, another play is performed in English, and other two are in Spanish with no translation), for a maximum of 15 spectators with 5 performances per night, per play.

LA TERAPIA by Txemi Parra and directed by Gerardo Gudiño, with Edna Lee Figueroa, Jerry Soto and Edmi De Jesús in the cast. Parra is a Basque scriptwriter and actor who worked in Madrid for over 15 years. In New York, he's a playwright, actor in series and plays: Repertorio Español company member and nominated for an ACE 2017 Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Play. His first published novel is "Los muertos no comen yogures" (The Dead Don't Eat Yogurts) which is available on Amazon.

"LA TERAPIA is a light and subtle comedy about a couple's problems" - Edna Lee Figueroa commented - "Dr. Appelstein has some very peculiar methods to ensure that the problems of this couple are no longer so. We have all gone through moments in our relationships where the least we want is to laugh, but in this comedy laughing at those moments is inevitable."

Gerardo Gudiño's direction is precise, with minimal and assertive movements. Nothing is left to chance. Gudiño holds a BA degree in Theater Studies from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina and a Master's Degree in Neuro-Linguistic Programming. He has several directing credits in Córdoba and in New York. He also studied at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York and has being an actor in Repertorio Español for 17 years. He has won several ACE and HOLA Awards.

Figueroa continued, "We had a first performance on February 6th with a different cast: Noëlle Mauri, Mario Mattei and me." Edna Lee Figueroa has been awarded by the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), Association of Latin Entertainment Critics of New York (ACE) and Independent Theatre Artists (ATI) for her performances in Theater and Film. Mattei, Soto, De Jesús and Mauri have been awarded and nominated for ACE, HOLA and ATI Awards as well. The actresses Edna Lee Figueroa, Edmi De Jesús and Noëlle Mauri are SAG-AFTRA members.

Back to the play, added Edna Lee: "The audience was laughing so hard and for us to not burst out laughing as well was truly a feat, but we made it. We didn't laugh. It was our goal that the audience couldn't hold their laughter; and we achieved it. Our goal hasn't changed for the upcoming performances. We all need to laugh, specially nowadays. Coming to see us will be, actually, great therapy."
